Hi, My names mike i live in PA. Im havin trouble on a decision i want to ask fellow nissan owners for help on my choice. I am 17 an own a 96 neon it runs like a neon with 100k on it but my mom was orginal owner. My buddy at work asks if i want to buy his 240sx i go for how much and ****. It is a 93 hatchback with 80k miles and he askin me for 1500. Theres a catch it was in a front accident. It was marked salvageable he fixed most of the **** and said he will take the recovered form to a mechanic. Now there are odds and ends wrong with it but engine and extra parts are basically new. I dont know how much i should poor into this i dont make much but i have about 3k. I never see nissans on the road and i heard there fast. So should i buy it and spent a year fixin it or save my money? Thanks in advance for the help.

Hey Jigsaw,

Welcome to NICO. I don't want to be the first to offer info on the 240SX because my opinion is biased. I'll instead suggest that you visit our 240 section and read up on it and listen to what the other guys that reply have to say. These people know there stuff and you'll soon see that a 240 is more than just a cult car. Enjoy the reading...careful with the language... and above all....

For what it's worth....

I'd avoid a car with a salvage title... and I'd certainly never "pour"money into such a vehicle.

Even if the car runs decently, the double whammy here is the front end damage is another big negative. It is rare that a carthat has been rarely smacked in the front end is really ever right again. (With apologies to some extremely talented bodyshoppeople I know)

Get rid of that Neon for sure and find yourself a cheap Sentra to tool around in until you can afford what you really want!
