I need help!!!
Hi I have a 1991 240sx se with the dual overhead cam 16 valve and its stock with 170k miles. I have a 9 month son so moneys been tight but im looking to get a bolt on turbo and I've been looking at a couple on ebay this is the link to one I've been debating about buying http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem I know it has alot of miles but if I were to buy it where should I start as far as making sure my engine can handle it, and if I should just get a different turbo kit altogether. I'm just looking for a fast, fun daily driver. Sorry for my lack of information and your help will be greatly appreciated. thanks

Wow! ok well I remember when I started where you were years ago. First of all your stock motor is high mileage I wouldnt put a turbo on it. Its not really strong enough for a turbo you will just end up killing it.
You should really have a goal set in mind of how much hp you want what you want out of the car. A fast fun daily driver should be around 200 hp.
If you want to make sure you motor can handle it you really need to rebuild it. I dont know how much hp the ka can handle but you should really build the bottom end up ie rods and pistons.
The no name brand turbos arnt worth buying. They are cheap garrett nock-offs they might last you an hour they might last you a month dont bother with them.
It feels like im smashing your dreams.
If you want to do a budget build I would read maximum boost by corky bell. You will really find most of what you need to know about turbo's in that book. If you dont want to put the effort forth in reading and understand it all just buy a kit. A good kit will cost you around 3-4k. I hope this helped you there is no real easy answer to your question just read read read search and read some more. Most questions can be answered by searching forums. If I had a dollar for every hour I spend on forums I would be a millionaire, understand?
