I need help

My car is 90' 240 with the ka24e and it is having some engine troubles. When I start it, it wants to die. So I have to get it some revs for a min or two. Then it will stay running but barely, and when I held it at 3000 rpm their was black stuff coming out of the exhaust. It also turned the tips black. I am looking for any suggestions.

did you do andy tuning in ur car....like spark plugz and all that typical stuff...checc your fuel filter see if its dirty or clogged.....get a new one if it is....and checc ur dis. timing....and then go frum there.......

the spark plugs keep turning black with a soot like material on them. I think it might be running rich but I dont know how to combat that or fix that. The fuel filter is about a year old. Is it possible that it could be clogged at all after that amount of time?
