engine coolant temp sensor.either damaged or out of range... check continuity, one wire should go to ground the other go to the ecu.

what year make and modle car can i get one from?

and would this keep my car from reving and also make it stop running? and is it the one that is screwed into the head or is it the one that is screwed into the thermostat housing?

it can possibly cause it to stop running and impose an artificialy low revlimit...a z32 sensor should work, make sure you get a real nissan one tho aftermarket ones tend to fail.also there shouldnt be any sensors on the thermostat housing, perhaps there is an aftermarket one installed?

well i went to auto zone to get one and the z32 sensors were all square, so i just bought one for a 95 240 sx. and it is working now. thanks for the quick response.
