This all started a few days ago. A vac. line blew off of my wastegate and I over boosted and detonated....just alittle. I got off of it quick when I heard it. I replaced the line that came off and now my cars idle is very "bouncy" occasionally. It never did it before the incident. Sometimes when I depress the clutch to stop at a redlight, it will hold the same rpm (as when the clutch was engaged) for about 4 or 5 secs. Im not sure what it is. I couldnt find any other vac leaks either. That was my first guess.

Bad plugs...the detonation probably burnt or broke one of the ground straps.

this would cause you to never stop boosting and most liekly destroying most peopels motors. on dual port wastegates the top port is only used for electronic boost controllers.

the same thing happened to me the other day... the vacuum line blew off the wastegate and i almost overboosted, but since my wastegate is not vented back into the exhaust right now (haven't had time to cut and weld it) i can always hear if anything goes wrong with the wastegate the instant it happens... i got off the throttle immediately and luckily i wasn't trying to boost the car up much (like i was just kind of giving it a little throttle for kicks cause i was bored in traffic)... so i didn't damage my engine but it freaked me out... that could have toasted my engine for sure had it been under different circumstances... i'm glad this happened the way it did and not when i was hard on the throttle...

sorry to hear about the bad news...you've probably hurt the engine, but we'll see i guess... it could be okay... you said you got off it pretty quick so there's a chance things are fine... good luck.

what kind of measures can you take to prevent the vac line on wastegate from popping off

You can use tie straps or you can get clamps for vacuum lines.

so the plugs could cause a high and bouncy idle?

yeah plugs can screw with your idle big time... it's weird. i bought a car a while back that had old plugs and i didn't replace them for a while because things were working fine, but then all of a sudden the car started running and idling really weird. but the thing is that it would do it and then it wouldn't do it (it was an intermittent problem), and i didn't understand it for a while. then one day i filled up with gas and while i was filling up i checked the oil, and wiggled the plugs for some reason... i think i moved one because i wanted to wipe something off the valve cover...then the car just ran like crap right after and it freaked me out so i started retracing my steps and remembered the plug moving and stuff so i replaced em and it was all good after then... this was a while ago, and i was still in my teens.

as far as bouncy idle, well there are a lot of things that can cause that. i've never personally traced bouncy idle to a plug problem but it wouldn't surprise me at all if they caused that.

oh and by the way after my vacuum line incident i put some silicon on the nipple (to create more friction between the vacuum line and the nipple) and then i used a zip tie. no problems since then.
