I have an 89 Nissan 240SX (auto). While driving home I felt the car lurch forward and RPM's almost red lined. Did not hear any noise or clunking. car does not move

I can move the auto transmission stick from one gear to another, However, when I press the gas it does not move the Spedo, works the RPM gauge works. I checked the transmission fluid. it had been slipping some here and there.

I called friend that works on transmissions, he said it the spedo is working the transmission is fine and that i have a delivery problem. (i.e. u-joints center support bearing, bad cv-axle or broken Diff.

I had it towed home and as it was loading on the trailer i looked and seen the cv-axles turning but i could not see the driveshaft turning due to the angle of the trailer.

Please, anyone help, I need this car back up and running ASAP.

So let me get this straight - you hit the gas and the RPMs increase but you don't accelerate/speed up?
If that's the case you either have low fluid (which you verified is good), a bad pump (rare-ish), or you have so many miles on the trans, the clutches/seals finally gave up the goose.
