I wouldn't worry about tires until it runs. If you can drain the gas, I would, then put new fuel in and give'er a'go.

Less to try and guess about and if it ran when parked then it should be fine just to get her going. I would then either rebuild it or put a weber on her. Keep the stock carb for emissions if you are required to pass that in your area.

Sounds like you are on the right track with the oil in the cylinders...try and hand crank the motor first like you said. That will let you know when she is ready for more action. start out slow and work your way into it. Change the oil before you start it up. "

There may not be a drain on the gas tank. He was just telling him to look if there was one. In any case you can stick a hose in and siphon out the gas or remove the tank and clean it out.

I think just a couple drops or so just so the oil can sit there and hopefully lube the top ring a smidge. Let us know how it goes.

I would be carefull about being too rough with the tank...the float mechanism can get stuck.

The oil in the cylinders is a good idea too....I would use the marvel mystery oil because it is a light lube that is easily combustable. Put it into a spray bottle and send a few good squirts into each of the cylinders.

LOL...yes on the oil.

I have never taken off a gas tank either, I would try a search.

get a haynes manual, it goes over the gas tank removal. just a warning the haynes manual covers all ranges of 720 and can be somewhat confusing if you dont go slow. you can pick one up @ autozone
