I'm new to this website. I have a 1972 1600 Datsun Pickup. It has the factory engine in it. I'm Wanting to make a head turner. I want to put a small v8 in it. I was just wondering if anybody had any ideas.

get yourself a good welder and then start reading..hate to see anothe 521 get hacked up for another ufinished v8 project...I have a rare 223 someone hacked uo to do the same with but they ran out of steam like most others we've seen around here over the years...only actually seen 2 trucks in 10+ years where the owner actually pfinished them..they both ended up  on ebay for somethin like 10-15k but neither sold...

not to discourage you but there is alot too consider when contemplating a swap like this...steering needs to be custom fabricated, brakes need up grading...firewall and inner fender wells trimmed to fit....front suspension will need to be upgraded...crossmember and motor mounts to fabricated...

It can be done...just grab your wallet and go for it!
and post us som e pictures of your progress!

It can still be a head turner if you leave the L motor in it. They are easy to fix & customize. Im a victim of the "lost steam" engine swap & wish i didnt tear into my 521 as much as i did, now it just sits. Stay with the L..post pics w/ ?'s if need be. Does it run now?
