ok guys,i went and bought a wiring harness for my 95 240sx and my alpine head unit.i didn't have wire connectors so i just twisted the wires together,ok well i didn't disconnect the negative battery terminal kuz i was lazy and as i finished wiring, i didn't wrap the wires in shrink wrap or electrical tape yet kuz i wanted to see if it would work first... well, it lit up and the antennae motor was working- i mean i could hear the damn thing..,but no music was coming out of the speakers, and then i think some wires touched and now the head unit doesnt work or light up.. i think i skrewed up my power antennae too, not that it wasn't junk in the first place, the motor would run, but the antenna never went up or down.. i thinksome fuses are blown, i'll have to check tomorrow since it's getting dark.and while im at it, im going to solder the connections for the headunit and wiring harness tonight.

but i noticed this plug for the stock radio that has 2 small prongs ,it looks like a wall outlet plug... it doesn't fit into the back of my alpine one.. what should i do? i think it's for the antennae? when i had the cd player lit up, it didn't play music and i dunno why either... can anybody help me out?

I think their may be a good chance the head unit is gone, shorts=destruction for the most part. There could also be a lot of other things that would cause it not to play. Was there a CD in it, if not and you didn't have the antannae hooked up probably wouldn't play. The probably a million other possibilities as well.

yes i had a cd in it and it still wouldn't play.also, i hooked up the stock radio/cd player in it and it still didn't work. the antennae motor doesnt run now either, im guessing i blew the motor for that ???? or it could just be the fuses, i'll check agian tomorrow.

but what is the small 2-pronged plug for? is it for the antennae??? it won't fit in the back of my alpine head unit

I dont know what that one is. If the stocker wouldn't work I'd bet money you have a fuse blown. Shorts will do that very quickly. Like I said before there could have been million possiblilities why it wasn't playing when you had it hooked up. Also i'm not guarantying your head unit is fried theres just a good chance.

did you have both the remote and the 12+ source connected? Some players will "do" something w/just the 12+ connected, but none will do anything if you are missing the remote connection. Also, if your player has a fuse, check that first.

The black 2 prong plug is the antenna - you should be able to get an adapter at any place that does installs. I can guarantee your problem is a blown fuse if touched your const. or 12V to the ground (the spark you saw). Should be an easy fix. Check your fuses, change out the open fuse(s), get the antenna adapter at Best Buy or whereever (pretty sure it won't work w/o it - though mine won't even power up w/o it and you said yours did, so I'm not sure), make sure you cap or tape or heat shrink to isolate your connections and you should be good to go.

my brother's powered up but stayed in standby so nothing would work w/o the remote on.

fixed the problem..i found 2 blown fuses , one was the "electron batt(something like that)" and the other was "12v"

had to run to autozone and pick up 7.5amp fuse for one of em..

oh yea, and i didn't hook up that wall-outlet looking plug , i guess it's for the antenna ... still works without it though, only play's cd's now but i never listen to the radio anyways.
