At work, we have a '96 Altima with a KA24DE. Now, with this car being front wheel drive, is this the same KA24DE that's found in 240's? If so, what are the differences? I'm asking because I've been looking for an engine to swap into my '89 coupe instead of tearing into the current KA24E for repairs. I think I may have finally found one and can probably get a great deal on it from my boss. Also, what are the differences in the 240's KA24E and the Hardbody's Z24? Is that something I could also consider?

The FWD engine will not work in a RWD application. The Z24 is old and besides, later hardbodies also came with the SOHC KA, but with an even milder cam and more restrictive intake manifold. Neither are great choices.

Thanks for pointing me back in the right direction. Guess I'll keep on looking.
