This is caused by the neutral safety switch. its a NO connection that closes then on P or N. But you can land those wires on the clutch pedal (2 wire switch similar to the brake light switch on the brake pedal). When the clutch is pressed the switch closed and allows the ECU to send the proper start signals to the engine/starter.
