I justed picked up a 90 coupe. I want some gold rims with a fat lip. I was thinking about the sport max 962's. They come in 17x7 and 17x9, should i go for the x7 in the front and x9's in the rear? Im guessing the 9inch wide rim has a bigger lip? Does anyone have these rims? Or should i say f*** it and get the x9's all around? Sorry for all the questions, but im a picky person and i want my s13 to look fresh. Im open to other rims, but i cant seem to find any gold 17's with lips....here is a pic of the car how it sits today.

What you guys think about the rims that are already on there, they got some fat tires

"Lip" depends on offset as well... Also, don't get 17s, if you're going to get sportmaxes, get 16s.

Absolutely, sportmax wheels offsets blow for the 240 above 16" diameter. A 16 inch wheel with a good drop and proper tire selection will look very nice on a S13.

So... having a fat lip > wider wheels for better grip?

Get something that offers you both. Anything narrower than an 8.5 inch wheel sux, IMO

EDIT: I misread. Nevermind.

just do 9's all around.

Theres absolutely NO reason to do 7's at all

On a 16'' wheel, 8'' wide ain't that bad at all. For sure on a 17'' at least 8.5'' and above is better yes.
