Hi!

I am new to the forum.. I am also going to be a new car owner!

I recently purchased the 2009 G37 Convertible and I am planning to pick it up tomorrow and sign the final paperwork. I did not plan to buy an extended warranty off the bat, but I was quoted a price and was wondering if it is a good deal.

I was offered an 8 year or 120,000 mile bumper to bumper coverage for $2500 from the dealer. I had just emailed someone who was mentioned numerous times on this forum (Courtney) and I am still awaiting a reply for more information and comparing quotes.

My question is: 1) Is that a good deal? and 2) Should I wait to purchase an extended warranty or not? (I had heard it only becomes more expensive as the time goes on)

Any advice is appreciated, I have never purchased a car before.

Hi

I sent you Courtney's contact via email, I bought both Extended warranty and maintenance warranty on my G37 Convertible last year.

Extended Warranty for 7 yr 100K miles and Extended Service Plan (maintenance prepaid) (5 yr or 60K) for less than $2500 for both with $0 deductible .

Good Luck

By the way even if you don't keep the car that long these warranties are transferable and it's worth it. The money you save in the car's price pays for these warranties and can be used Nationwide as these are Issued by Infiniti not second source or after market.

Enjoy your new car.

Yeah I'm planning on keeping this car til I drive it to the ground =) So an extended warranty makes sense for me because I would rather pay for one than deal with the hassle of fixing anything later on. Plus I am not tremendously handy.

Courtney quoted me some deals... lower than the dealer price.. but I just didn't realize how expensive it all was anyways. I'm lookin at roughly $3700 for the 8 year 120,000 bumper to bumper $50 deductible With the 5 year prepaid maintenance with the quote from her.

Thank you to anyone who responded! =) I just signed the paperwork to buy, I'm keeping the car at the dealership until I pick it up on my birthday!

Same here. I'd like Courtney's contact info as well. I just put a deposit down on a vert. I figured with the mechanism of the convertible that it may be better to get the bumper to bumper extension

Keep in mind, when you buy an extended warranty of 8 years, it includes the 4 years you get when you buy the car new. So your only actually getting a 4 year extended warranty. I would wait 3 1/2 years and if you still own the car, shop for an extended warranty then.
If your the original owner, after 4 years, and not had any ongoing problems, know how the car has been treated and serviced regularly, the odds are you shouldn't have enough problems to offset the price you paid for the extended warranty.
The places that sell the extended warranties usually come out ahead on the deal or they go broke.
The only car that I've owned, that I would consider buying an extended warranty for would be a BMW.

I thought with a new vehicle, you have 6,000 miles to purchase the extended warranty? (Or is that the service warranty?) Anyone know?

You can buy either within 12 months of purchase but price can be a bit higher...
