I just bought a new 12v socket to install in my 350 cause the only one that's in the car is in an inconvenient place. But I'm having trouble deciding where to install it. I want to put it somewhere that's not in plane sight but still easy to get to if I want to unplug whatever I'm using to plug something else there. I was thinking of putting it in the spot where factory nav would go but I'm not completely sure that's where i want it. Any opinion helps. I just wanna see what other people think and get a few ideas. Thanks in advance.

i would mount it on the console but then it would just be in the way of my arm lol. I've tried to think of a bunch of places I could put it that would be close but out of the way but nothing really comes to mind.

I meant like inside it. When I had my G, the iPod port was in there and it seems to me like I had a 12v port in there too.

Let me know if it works out. It would be really convenient to have mine done that way. It is a biatch to reach the port on my car. I'm glad my radar detector is battery operated!

I've warned you about the inadequacies of a battery powered RD before...hope you don't learn the hard way. Image I do tell RD users that have a SmartLink rear view mirror to ditch the standard plug-in and go with an Invisicord.

Brad - you could do a near-factory install by ordering the second plug and housing that the later Z's got (under the pull out cup holder on the passenger side dash) from someplace like Courtesy Parts and tuck it up under the dash someplace where it was convenient for you to use. I'll look up the links and past numbers later when I'm not on my tablet, but right now it's time for the IU-MSU game, Go Hoosiers!

IU won (thanks no doubt to all my yelling at the TV), so I was happy enough to do some searching but I came up empty.

I could only find the stuff for the outlet that is between the seats on the wall that divides the passenger and cargo areas. Here's a quick link. You could make it work with those parts or look in a parts/salvage yard for the outlet components. If you search on your own just search on an 04+ since that's when they started putting that second outlet on the Z. Or you could send a hit up 300ZXttZMAN and see if he has a line on one...he's in the biz.

I know. I have had that thing for about 10 years though and it has never let me down. It is so convenient to be able to put it wherever you want it.

Thanks Badger. I didnt realize they had another location for it from 04 and on. Thank god I've been to lazy lately to do anything about installing it. I'll do some lookin around and see what i can figure out.
