Hey guys to make a long story short i blew a tire today. right now I have 235-40-17's in the rear on a 17x9 FN01RC. Not exactly the tire size that i want but thats what i got with them. I originally was going to get a 245 so that way i dont have the stretch that i do now. The tires that ill be ordering will be either Kuhmo MX's or Falken RT-615's. Kuhmo offers both sizes while falken only offers 255. im not really worried bout prices. The other thing is that im also planning on getting new wheels in a month or two and those are 17x9.5's in the rear. will 245-40-17 look good on that size of a wheel or am i best off getting the falkens??? Remember which ever tire it is, it will be going on my 17x9 for the time being. Thanks again fellas.

Go 245/40/17. It will fit good on 9.5 and 9j. I believe they sell azenis in this size? You should also look into Hankook RS2 z212. They are a competitor to the 615. BTW, 235s on 9j really isn't that bad. It's a small stretch which helps with sidewall stiffness and responsiveness. You could go 255/40, but that would be a pretty tall diameter compared to stock, and I would not run that unless you are making a lot of power, because azenis, mx or Rs2 will all be very grippy despite width.

excellent. thanks dude, thats what i needed to hear. Yeah your right bout the 235's its not a horrible stretch it doesnt even look that bad i just thought it would look better with a 245. I didnt know you get better response from a 235, thats good to know. im getting my tires from Vulcantire.com and on there falken selections it doesnt show a 245 but either way im going to look into the rs2 tonight before i make my decision tomorrow. where could i get the hankooks at??? Vulcantire nor Tirerack offer them all though if i end up getting the kuhmos ill be getting them from tirerack, there like 20 30 bucks cheaper then what vulcan offers them at. Thanks for the info again really appreciate it.

ummm the best prices are on edgeracing.com

No 615 in 245 though. I really like my RS2s. They have gotten excellent reviews and post near identical track times to the 615s. The 615 is still a better tire, but not by much. They are very comparable tires.

My suggestion:

RS2s or the 615 if you can find them. Find the cheapest price online, and go into discount tires and have them pricematch it (they will). This way you still get a hazard warranty, and can get them mounted at the same place you bought em. This is what I did. I got my 235/40/17 RS2s for like 105 each (edgeracing rate) at discount tires. ****ing love them. The 245/40 RS2s are a bit more. I might be going 245s myself at a later time.
