so i just picked up an oem 180sx spoiler in mint shape for 200.00 shipped from Japan. it has the 3 mounting tabs on each side...2 bolts and the other one looks like its supposed to lock into something

i want to mount this on my hatch to correct location specs and i have yet to find anything. if someone could shine a light on this subject ill be very happy

first off thats an interesting type x wing. i've seen em before but not all of em had the sides come down so far. mounting should be the same regardless. i just look at a lot of pics til i was sure where it should go in regards to front to back. look at earlier pages of my build i have lots of pics. i think around page 10 should be what you want

just measure both sides and make sure you have it lined up where you'd like it...

otherwise brian harte will know.

I don't know for a fact, but I would bet my money that Nissan didn't make multiple wings for the late model 180sx.

There are various aftermarket wings that looks similar to the OEM wing, but differ in some ways.

im leaving in a few to go to my shop to snap pics of mounts, but ive seen replicas and they are always 1 piece w/ 2 bolt studs.

my spoiler comes apart and has 3 studs on each base. 2 of the studs are bolts and the other looks like it snaps into a coupling...idk

Mine is a FRP replica.

Oem ones have the studs coming OUT of the wing.

The FRP ones have Threaded inserts in the wing.

Some FRP wings might also have the studs too, but I don't know for sure.

Cool.

I assume it's much easier to put a threaded insert into a FRP part rather than having a stud come out of it.

Anyways, hope this dude's wing comes out looking good.
