Would it not be cheaper to fix the rust?

Mine's rustless and will be for sale. Not $2k though.

Loki, rust is really hard to repair once it sets in. The extent of the rust is usually worse than you think, and it's easier to just start fresh.

yeah it's pretty substantial, it is all the way through the lower driver's side quarter panel, and there is a huge spot on the passenger strut tower, I know its typical but this is like 8 inches long and is already layered and soft, it also has some spots around the windshield. I bought it with "no rust" when I removed the body kit, I found out otherwise. I need some of my vert brothers to help me out, I really want another convertible!!

When you find another vert, please let me and my teamate (prodigy here) have dibs on it. We need to repair my previous vert and a rusty parts car would be great.

Josh, this sucks! Sorry to hear about it.

I'll definitely keep my eyes open for you and let you know if I see something.

I appreciate it dude, but, today I scheduled having her admitted in to the body shop to take care of her spots. Then guy that painted my other 240 is hooking me up and it's gonna be cheaper for me. How's the body kit brother?

Yeah, hopefully your guy can stop the rust and patch it up nice. Will def. be better than getting a whole new one. A lot less hours of labor you as well.

I'm very excited about the body kit. I started mocking it up last fall, but with winter around here, it's just too cold to spend any time in the garage. So it's been sitting for quite a while now. First order of business when things warm up is trying to figure out how to modify my core support to fit inside the bumper. I think i've got a nice solution to that. Then i'll finish paint prep on the rest of the car and get the whole thing painted. Then installed.. then I'll be a happy camper!!!

Any chance you'll get out to some meets next summer? Atlanta in Sept for NOPI Nationals?

yeah for sure, I don't know if the vert40 will be painted but it will be in white sealer but I will be making th meets. BTW, I think I'm gonna post a thread about my "nightmare convertible". About how "awesome the car was when I went to Detroit to get it, and how not so awesome it was in real life. How I had to disassemble the entire car and re-do everything, and then a year later I finally got to drive it. Sometimes, I wish I could punch that guy in the face, what an a-hole. It will kind of serve as a warning to all that wish to buy an already swapped car.

I agree, you should write up your experiences. "Don't judge a book by it's cover" What's really crazy is that I almost went to pick that car up. My brother was going to buy it. We had a truck and trailer already set to go. Then my brother had second thoughts and decided to pass on it. I'm sure glad we did. I feel bad for you though. Who would have thought that car would have been that big of a mess. Sure did look pretty on the outside!

It was shift_oversteer's car.

The blue one that was sooooo damn pretty on the outside... but had some real issues hidden.

WOAH, you bought THAT car?!!

How much did you end up paying? He was asking for a lot of money. I know the SR was in disarray, but it did look like a really nice car. Hmm... Please elaborate - sounds juicy.
