I have an rb20det in my 90 coupe. I cant seem to get the thing to ideal right. I thought it was the tps, got another one that checks out (thanx carl) and it still will not act right. when I installed the tps I set it using ohms ideal is about 2k and wot is about 9-10k. This is what the fsm says.

I can get it to ideal at 5-600 then no mater how much I adjust the ideal screw it will not change. Then when it gets warm it revs to 2-2500, I try to turn the screw and nothing. when it is idealing that high if I unplug the iacv and adjust the screw I can get it to idea right at about 9-1000, but when you let off the gas to stop at a light or something it will die.

One other thing that is going on, when I go WOT in second it will just cut out like the car is off till I remove my foot from the gas. then when I am not wot if I just take off just driving around, I have to give it 1/4 throttle just to pick up speed. When I get going and hit 2-3000rpm it acts like someone hit a switch and just acts right till the next gear. This will not happen all the time just when it wants to.

setup is:
motor is stock
fpr set at 39ish
rb25turbo 15psi may spike 16 but it always falls to 13 as soon as it spikes.
frount mount with 2.5in piping
blow off vent to air
2.5in-2.75in-3in turbo outlet-downpipe-catless catback
catch can
n60 maf

thanx guys.

I had a problem where my motor would misfire but the motor looks stable but you can tell from exhaust tone. it was like i could not even move in second gear till i shift from 1st at 3k rpm then it want to move. when turbo finally spooled in it acted as if it had power. found out my number 6 injector was not firing. inline tend to look fine when 1 cylinder is not firing found out hard way when i forgot the little u clips for injector harness from 1-3

you should adjust the tps to the idle switch breakpoint, not resistance...
also check your base timing and make sure it is correct.
is your tachometer reading for a 6 cylinder?

9 times out of 10 when you have a perfect idle when the car starts cold and a high idle (higher then 1500) when at operating temperature the IACV is shot. The black square thing with two big vacuum hoses running to it(one from and one to).

The unit you say you are adjusting with the screw is the AAC, it does not control your basic idle function.

The tps should be adjusted via voltage and not resistance. You want 0.5v with the throttle closed.

Ok I got it to act better I will have to see how long it stays like this. I had to mess with the tps and the timing. She sits at 900-1000, with a slight miss at ideal so I am checking plugs sator sun. thanx for the input guys.

oh and the die out at wot must have been a tps thing too cause its gone now too.
