I am looking to rebuild my ka24de and i dont want to do any fancy upgrades. i just want maybe a mild cam. can anyone help me i want it to sound aggresive at idle. im also wondering what other things i should do while the motor is torn down. just give me some ideas. i got quoted 1100 for the rebuild and transmission swap. im not looking to spend over 2000. what ever parts i buy goes on top of that 1100 so that gives me roughly 900 to play with in parts. just hit me up with ideas. whatever ones you got... and please dont give me ideas that will make it become like this lol

my buddys shop in raliegh is rebuilding it and putting the 5 speed in. he has all the stuff needed for the swap. hes rebuilding it for like 750 and putting the 5 speed in for 250 since it will be easier. so no cams? i wanted to do something that might add a lil bit a power. ofcourse ima go with intake and exhaust and go ahead and put a light weight flywheel and upgrade the clutch. i just want to go ahead and do something that will set of the exhaust. make it sound different but keep the ka's original power. i need some advice im kinda new to this stuff.

Maybe someone can chime you in on cams since I know nothing about it. There are other things too to get you more power

! piece aluminum driveshafteRemove your clutch fan and get electric fans, like one from an AltimaYou can also relocate your battery to the trunk and out a pipe to that side where the battery is

I picked up a junkyard DE block for a rebuild. My car was originally a KAE, so for the cost involved I went with the newer engine. The engine is bored .20 over with new pistons.Had the rods and cranked rebalanced. Everything else was hot tanked and cleaned.Clevite bearings, fresh water and oil pumps.Installed a 12lb chromoly flywheel and stock Exedy replacement clutch kit. ! piece aluminum shaft and helical lsd are already on the car.The cheapest intake tube I could find on Ebay with a K&N filter.OBX header, 2.5" resonated test pipe and 3" Blitz exhaust.Removed the EGR and AIV, charcoal canister, clutch fan and everything a/c related. Cooling the engine with a Mishimoto radiator and dual 12" e-fans controlled with a thermostatic switch. The car runs and drives great. I will be ordering up a set of the Crower stage 2 cams and an underdrive pulley in the coming months as well as getting a proper tune. But so far, for what I have invested, a bit over a grand, I am quite pleased.

ive been told that the ka isnt worth really rebuilding for na power. and to build it for turbo is rediculously expensive. The problem with fixing this car up is that its my daily driver. so im just thinking of buying another 240. my vert is heavy any way. I mean it would be nice to have a fixed up vert. but im a power kind of guy. CA18 v.s. SR20 can any one give me the scoop on that one.??? lol thats incase i decide to buy another car to work on.

well to tell you the truth you could do a ka-t setup for nearly as much as an sr swap and get more power and torque out of it. but if you are bent on sr or ca then remember that the sr has more aftermarket support.
