I've got a current drain on my battery that's running my battery down (good thing it's a redtop) if it sits for a over a week or so... since I'm not even in the same state as the car it's not possible to just drive it more often, and I would rather just solve the problem.

The favor I need is for someone with an RB20 in a S13 to take a multimeter and measure the current draw on the battery when the car is off... I need something to compare mine against. I have no radio in there at all... but I think it's the power strips I wired in for my const/ign/illum... so a reading off a normal setup would be great!

I'd help you out but I'm still fighting my altanator problems. I'm about to give up and just use the KA lower harness since I didn't take it out for this very reason.

I'm actually using the KA lower... just this I think this power strip combo is just pulling to much current while the car is off. It's fine for about a week... but goes dead after a 1.5-2 weeks. The car charges fine while it's running... motor actually came with a brand new alt. Sorry to hear about the problem Yellow... what's your setup now since you aren't using the KA lower?

So if anyone can check their amp draw when the car is off that would be great.

That's interesting... mine was fine when it was stock (which is why I think it's the power strips...) even after leaving it for 3 months. It only takes about 1.5 weeks now. The fact that they do have a bit of current draw stock makes it even more helpful to know how many amps someone else is pulling from the battery with the car off. I'd really appreciate it if someone had the time to do that for me.

do you have any other devices that's constanly using the battery?

if you suggest which area to measure for current usage, i'll more than happy to tkae a sample.

Nothing is connected to the battery as a constant except that strip... which has my 3 greddy gauges on it (don't know how many amps those pull... but I doubt it's very much). I might just throw a resistor inline on the constant to take it down some... but if you could check the current coming from the battery (at the battery right off of the positive terminal) with the car off... that would help a lot!

that might be the case, why not use 12v of the ignition on source. i ran my guages to the 12v ignition on signal from with the stereo....you could use the cigarrette lighter's plug for power source too...

My gauges have constant, ign, and illum wires... and the fact that I have a profec-b, safc and one day a radio (not on the high priority list) are the reason I wired them the way I did... I'm definitely looking into where the draw is coming from, but I need a baseline to start from and see if I really am pulling more amps than most people.

You did get me thinking... maybe I'll just run the lead from what was the radio's constant to the strip (radio was ripped out when I bought it with cut wiring)... shouldn't be pulling nearly as much current on a 18gauge wire or whatever that thing is, since it's run on 8 gauge wire now... which is what makes me think it's pulling more current than it needs to when it's off.
