Does anyone else remember the seek/scan button that car radios had from the early to mid 90s?

You press the button and it scans through the radio stations. It usually paused for 5~10 seconds then continued. When you heard something you liked you pressed seek again to stop the scan.

This feature was beautiful! You didn't have to press a bunch of buttons when nothing but commercials were on. You could just let the radio cycle through in hopes that atleast one station had something good on it.

I wonder why they got rid of this feature.

Now a days all hope is lost, and radio manufacturers have simply given up.

Next year the new models that only only have the channel for ipod tuners come out.

I also like this feature. Late 90s Buicks and Oldsmobiles have preset scan, which gets the job done.

My LS has seek buttons--up and down--and it's not from the mid-90s.

(Not my car, but exactly the same interior and radio). I wish it was 87*F outside.

Yup my parent's Altima has them and I still use it when my stations are cluttered with sh*t. Many times I stumble on a new station and it becomes a new present. It's like radio Darwinism.

If you push and hold seek (for maybe 1-2 seconds) on most cars it will scan for functioning frequencies. At least that's what I remember. I don't normally use stock stereos...

My Busaru has a scan button. But that falls into the category of 90s cars.

I used my scan button last night and discovered two more half-decent classic rock stations. So I've now doubled my chances of hearing a song that doesn't suck on FM.
