Get a job to offset the price that your parents have to pay.

Just to play devil's advocate, when I was looking at cars, it was between an A/C and a used g35. I ended up choosing the AC due to the fact that I either get a brand new car with full warranty, or one with 60 000km with a year and a half left on the power train warranty. The cars were basically the same price and if you factor in how much you've lost in depreciation on the AC up to this point, I think you'd come out worse off than you are now. Just my 2c

i think you will be saving money if you keep your coupe. gas would prob cost you more on the g35 and the value of your car has prob dropped a good $5,000+ from what you actually payed for it. i would say don't trade it in

While I was in school I whined a whole lot about being really busy but in all reality there was a ton of time for classes, school work, a part-time job, ****ing around and getting drunk every single day. It's good that school is your top priority, but let's be honest here... if you really wanted to keep the car you would find a job and help with the payments without hesitation.

You're always welcome in "our" forum lol.

You might look at it this way:

Think of all of the things you wanted to do to your A/C that the G35 already has. A few things I could think of would be suspension, body (kind of subjective there), and exhaust.

Powertrain warranty on the Gs are 70k mile, and bumper to bumper is 50k?

Gas consumption is directly related to how you drive it. You won't be getting CVT number though lol. We do have a few older sedan drivers that see mid 20s though.

If you do decide on a G, stay away from an 03 if possible. 05 would be your best bet, but would start killing off the savings.

With the amount you are going to lose on your A/C your payments are probably only going to drob like $25-$50 bucks. So I defenetly would not recommend doing it. Unless you get some amazing deal. You will probably only get like $15000 for a trade in and unless you get the G for like 11000 your payment isnt going to drop that much.

Check out the bluebook on your car and post it hear, I maybe able to give you more accurate numbers.

Infantry is right Unless you find an amazing deal, your payments wont be that significant and you'll be sorry for getting rid of the AC

You're not really going to see any substatial savings, if any by doing this - insurance will be higher on a G, and you don't know what kind of car you are getting yourself into. You're 20 years old - you have the rest of your life to go after the cars you want. Don't worry about getting the best right now - you'll just set yourself up for dissapointment if you try to squeeze it out. It doesn't make much financial sense either, considering the amount you are going to lose from the trade in...I don't think you'll see any benefit from doing it.

I graduated with one of the hardest degrees at my university and worked 25-30 hours a week, was in a frat, AND played WoW to end game. Trust me, you should have plenty of time to scrap together a few hundred dollars a month. Not to mention it would cost you and your parents alot less money to keep the AC as stated by others.

Maybe have your parents seek some financial advice on the situation, any financial expert would tell you to hold onto you purchase, trading in would be like throwing 4-7 grand away in the long run.

Don't trade it in. You will lose your hat on a trade, period.

Find a job and help offset the payments. You can make time.

I work full time (40 hours) and go to school full time in pursuit of my BBA in MIS.

You can do it

your acomplishments and abilities to do them while maintaining a diverse schedule says NOTHING about the next man! I personally wouldn't dare think anyone on NICo could do what I do just because I did it that way... to the OP, I would say do whatever is best financially! Seeking long term financial advice means very little if someone is having difficulties making a monthly note right now!Yes, he may save more in the long run, but he needs the money NOW! Do whatever you feel is best OP!

You'll get a lot better return by selling it private party.

The only issue will be how to pay for the residual depreciation. Maybe you'll be lucky and the gap won't be too large, but it's something to think about.

As for the G insurance being more than the A/C... Not necessarily. A lot of factors have to be weighed first. I would venture to say that repair costs on an A/C are higher than on a G because of the newness of the vehicle and the fact that used OEM parts are much harder to find. The actual value of a 1 yr old vehicle versus a 3-5 yr old vehicle will also play a significant role in insurance.

You'll also want to check out what kind of interest rate you can get on a used G before doing anything with your A/C. Rates have fallen a lot in the past year, but then again, used financing is always more than new financing (assuming you compare them at the same time).

No sympathy from me to you, bud. This is one of your other posts:

"ok so i got really bored since the cable company is doing some fixing and i cant watch tv...and starz was having a special on Comics and Movies...so since there isnt any tv i just messed around with Photoshop..reminder im just a newb and just started creating..i did the backround was done by me that i followed on a lighting tutorial..ok so let me know what you guys think...lol..here."

Don't tell us that you have no free time to get a job...!!!

Many people, including myself, didn't or don't have parents who can help you out as your parents do for you. I mean, they are making the payments (and probably the insurance, gas, maint, etc.) for your BRAND NEW car. They are also probably paying for your school and books and you're probably living with them so they are paying for your food and rent and clothes et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

I hate using the "when I was in school" line but....When I was going to college, my parents were only able to pay for tuition. I went to school full time and had to work full time to keep my car (which was a '90 Ford Escort GT, mind you!) running and filled with gas and insured and also to buy my books...etc.

I'm not saying that you should have to go through the same hardships that I did, but you've gotta learn to help out a little bit! Basically, the car will have to be sold because you are too lazy to get a job and keep it....

My point was there is always a way. I used myself as an example, the kid doesnt need to join a frat and start wowing. If he really wants the car, he will pick up a job. Period. Everyone has their financial hardships, but if your having financial troubles and need cash NOW as you say, you might want to get a job NOW so you can afford what you have bitten too far into. Sorry but no sympathy, wasting 5 grand in a long run is not justified by needing money NOW.

Quote »I guess pizza delivery driver logistics is the hardest degree at Upper West Stratford Community College.......you should be proud!"I'm such a di*k"[/quote]wow really?? try computer science and engineering, who the F*CK do you think you are jerkoff? I'm 23, bought this car with my own money, live on my own, and live within my means, sorry for giving sound financial advice. Get your trolling *** the hell out of this forum, your an obnoxious D-bag.

Don't get hard Peter, I'm just playin with ya. I had to poke at you because you came off like a pretentious douche bag.

Relax, guess what, I paid for my car and paid my way through school and live on my own too, just like a lot of us on this forum.

Again you having to point out "I'm 23, and I did this and this all by myself" is another example.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Now onto the trade in for a used G, you are probably going to come out on the short end of that, I think we all agree on that. I am not going to personally tell you how to live your life, but if you crunch some numbers you'll have a better feeling for where you stand it is possible that you may save a few bucks on monthly payments if you take out a new loan but overall you'll come up sorter on cash than where you started, but that may be what you need to get you through the next few years.

Kinda like when I consolidated my college loans, yeah over all I am going to end up paying a few grand more over 20 years but the interest rate and monthly payment is substantially lower and this allows me to invest the monthly savings and actually turn a substantial profit....er was turning a substantial profit...lol its been a rough year for all of us.

But ultimately its up to you dude.
