i'm sure all you vert regulars know/remember that my vert got destroyed by a suicidal deer a few weeks ago. (RIP ) well, since then, my wife and i have been on the hunt for a new vert that we can afford - we even considered flying to california during christmas to find one to drive back home (michigan). we looked at plane tickets, hotel rates, calculated gas and food prices... yeah, we're a little nuts, but we LOVED our vert. well, flying to cali and driving a vert back isn't really a practical idea - the opportunity cost would be way too high.

so... i was surfing the net in seach of verts and i found a super clean vert for sale that isn't in florida or california! it was garage kept winters, it has under 100k miles, it's had one owner (sort of), and it has been very well taken care of. it did get bumped with a van in the front fender - it's just sheet metal damage and i have a couple fenders in my basement. now i just need to pull some money together to go pick it up. the asking price is very reasonable for the condition the car is in right now, but it's a tad out of our price range. on the other hand, i'm not sure if i'll see another vert that's in such good condition without having to take time off work to go pick it up. my wife is going to stop at her credit union today to see about taking out a small loan so we can buy this car. in the mean time, i need everyone to send me money so i can pay for it.

just kidding...

unless you'd really do it... i take cash, check, money order, credit...

in all seriousness, i just wanted to let you guys know that i'm really thinking about getting a new vert so i can be oober cool with you guys again.

Surviving the crash without losing control of the car makes you oober cool anyway; the vert just completes the package....

kate: i'm not a big fan of silvia conversions on the vert, however, i really like it on the coupes. don't ask me why... just do. my wife and i really like the flip ups on the vert.

madcow: sorry if i confused you. the car is not in florida, but i appreciate the offer. i had 2-3 people offer to check cars for me out of state. i really like that people in this forum will go out of there way to help a fellow vert owner out. when it comes to membership quality, the vert forum far surpasses any other forum i'm active on (9 total i think).

i might part out the vert, but probably not until spring.

cmkelly: my wife was driving at the time so i can't really take credit for that. thanks though.

Seriously. NICO is overall nice place, but vert forum is most friendly place to hang around.

nissanconvert, Isn't it going to be annoying when he drives with the top down?

i was thinking i needed this more: http://www.statefarm.com/insur...d.asp

as far as the deer whistles go, i think they sound at a frequency that's too high for our ears to sense - kind of like dog whitles. i don't think they're very effective either. i know a few people that have hit/been hit by deer with those on their car.

it was a good joke though.

Hey Dexter that's good news. I hope you get it...after all, you deserve it after what that suicidal deer did to your ride lol.

first, thanks for all the kind words and support.

my wife is really concerned about whether or not we can afford this right now. she's trying to fill my head with logical reasoning and reality.

if i can get a few more of my dsm/240 parts/cars sold, i could easily have enough money to pick this up... it's going to be tight and it's not going to be easy. but i think it'll be worth it.

however, it still doesn't solve our "one car" situation. i'd still need to pick up another ride. it's a lot easier to find a beater for cheap than it is to find a pristine vert in the norwest for a decent price.

wish me luck.

Good luck...

Hopefully the whole situation turns out good.

If you need help looking for a beater...just let me know what you're looking for, your budget, etc...and i'll help out if I can. I usually frequent Autotrader and Cars.com because I usually help other people look for cars and plus I get bored at times.

Haha thanks man. I dont keep it in my search or get automatic emails...but I sure do check classifieds now and then lol...out of boredom and curiousity . I remember one time I saw about 10+ verts on ebay ...I never saw so many verts to bid on in my life...hasn't happened since then.

Hey DeXteR, good luck with it, it seems like you two really loved the vert. If I wasn't so tight on money myself, I'd paypal you some money. I feel kinda bad that you lost the white vert, she seemed in very pristine condition. If I do get some money that I can spare, I'd definitely send it to you. It may not be much, but I'd definitely do it. However....I do need your passenger side arm.

i appreciate it.

we'll see how things go. i don't know the future of the wrecked vert at this point in time. i've got a good friend who wants to try to repair it to a degree. he's a drifter and i don't know what he would have in mind for it. and then my father-in-law was really impressed with the car and hinted to me that he might like to keep it and find someone to repair it.

like i said in my previous thread (regarding the accident) i'm not really going to touch the white vert until spring as it has become quite cold up here and michigan and i really don't feel like ripping parts in the middle of winter. whatever i may decide to do with it, i'll let everyone know.

as far as the "new" vert. my wife and i are dropping off the loan application tomorrow. i think my wife is ok with getting it now that she's been looking at pictures and thinking about how much she misses her old vert.

Now for the white vert...if it can't be repaired to its original status...

Use it for demolition derby!

so here's a bit of an update:

the vert was on ebay. we got rejected for the laon (thanks for screwing me sallie mae! ) so i didn't bother bidding.

well, there is a slight ray of hope. the seller and i have been in contact for about a week now. he's really nervous about letting the car go to the winning bidder because he's been kind of sketchy. if the ebay deal falls through, the seller will be giving me a call and i'll go pay for and pick up the car. i'm not going to force it though because it's been looking like i wasn't supposed to have this car anyway. oh well.

DeX..

Send me an email. My little brother (Omnikron on NICO) has a white 'vert that appears to have a bad engine. We just got done with a 5 spd swap, only to find out that the engine is probably shot. (We didn't know ahead of time because the auto trans was inop).

Anyhow... he's tossing over the whole SR swap vs. screw it and sell the car...

It's got a straight body and frame but needs some body work. Between your deer killer and his car... there is probably the makings of a very nice vert.

Might be worth talking about.

I can get you some pictures if you are interested.

i'm really not interested in doing a lot of body work - especially if it has rust. damn i hate living with rust in the northwest.

anywho, i'll send you an email later tonight. thanks for the heads up. i'll look into it.

Dexter, if that doesn't work out, I saw 2 verts on ebay. 1 is in PA and the other in Oregon.

i was out of town this past weekend and only had dial up

yeah, i've had my eyes on ebay for the last few weeks. the one in oregon - way too far away especially with a blown engine. the ones in PA and FL are both really nice, but a little pricey - especially considering the oportunity cost to bring them home.

i also found a bunch of verts on autotrader, but most are far away or the people are asking way more than i'm willing to pay right now. there was a nice black one in suburban detroit that was garaged winters and has low miles. the guy is asking $4900 for it though - yikes. i'm still following up with the guy in ohio. if it doesn't work out, i'm just going to wait until spring. i would hate to drive a clean vert on wet, salty michigan roads to let it sit and rot in storage through our five month winter.

seth, i obviously didn't get a hold of you this weekend. i'll try to send that email this afternoon.
