Theres a fella I work with, got one of these sitting on his lawn not even licensed. Its his wife's car, who has another rig and is all but forgotten about this car.

They almost got the thing towed away just to get rid of it!! He said I could have it for very very cheap. Its got my interest sparked now.

Shes an 89 5 speed 240sx, I'm waiting to hear about the mileage. The wife had bumped into someone before and has the front clipping pushed back just enough to barely touch the front tires, but its just the bumper, no other damage.

He said they took good care of it and even after sitting for months on end, she started up right away first try when he had to move her. He said he thinks the rear brakes are screwed because when he drove her a bit he could hear grinding in the back, no doubt the pads were fused to the rotors and once broke free the rust was makin a horrible sound.

How reliable are these cars? 140 ponies should be able to move this car pretty good, not sure what mods are available to get a bit of extra pep. I like the fact that its rear wheel drive.

I'm wondering is there anything I should keep in mind if I do luck out and can get the car for next to nothing, I certainly like the look of them.

Thanks guys,

leo

i'd check out the front damage and make SURE there's nothing wrong with the frame. if that (and everything else) is fine and there's no rust, sounds good to me.

if the car's cheap enough, you might have enough money left to swap the engine from the stock '89-'90 KA24E to a '91-up KA24DE (dohc and 155 hp). not a bad idea for a 13 year old car, especially if you find out it has high miles.if you wanna go crazy (like many of us here) and you don't need to worry about smog, the SR20DET (turbo motor from japan) is awesome (but illegal in the states).

if you wanna know more, there's a search button in the upper right corner.
