i might be buying a 1979 280z

i was just wondering what kind of suspension is on them. do they have trailing arms? i want it to be my drift car, but if its not gunna be a good drift car i just wanna know ahead of time. the rails and evrything is good no rust really at all.

they are trailaing arms, and in 79 it might have rear drums and cv halfshafts, with the R180 diff, easy enough to upgrade to the sisks and vc's with the R200, also some of the early S130's crappy box and drag link steering, easy to swap in rack and pinion with crossmember

Welcome to my world... as the owner of 2 79s (formerly 3) I have room to talk...

79s DO have rear discs and yes WILL go sideways almost too easily, however are very difficult to maintain a serious drift for anylonger than say 3 seconds... you can slide around just fine nice and stable... then poof your facing the wrong way...LSD would probably resolve this issue but I've spent my funding elesewhere...

any more Qs feel free to ask... you've been around long enough I'll be done with the flaming (least for awile)

My 79 is a great drift car.I can hold a drift for like 20sec.but ofcourse it`s not as Easy to drift with a 79 as an 300ZX or an 240SX!But I think you should buy it!

I'm runnin Tokicko blue shocks and Tokicko red springs on mine... (I got them from EvilD so he could tell you what model they are)

I got them on ebay, the ilumina's are also available, also Koni offers custom valved single or double adjustables in their race line (for a premium) just depends on what your wanting to do and how much you want to spend

my 71 is on koni classic's with ST springs and MSA sway bars
