I'm thinking of making some carbon fiber parts and am trying to decide how much carbon fiber, epoxy etc. to get, I would get a discount the more I ordered so I'm trying to find out if anyone would be interested in buying some carbon fiber parts. Right now I'm looking at making some front and rear strut tower braces as well as a carbon fiber sunroof. There will be substantial weight savings over similar metal pieces and over the OEM glass sunroof. The strut tower braces should be around 200 bucks each and the sunroof a bit less, it will partly depend on how many people are interested. You would also be able to see the piece that I made you being test fit with pictures of anything you wanted before buying it. Let me know what you guys think of this as well as any suggestions for other simple parts you might need. Dont bother asking for dash trim, the mold is too hard to make and it's too hard to form carbon fiber over all the curves. If this is a stupid idea I've thought up, feel free to tell me that too :) I haven't tried this yet, but if enough people say that they would be interested in these pieces then I will give it a shot, I guarantee you the workmanship would be good, I would only use good materials, and there would be some kind of guarantee on each part as well.

ALSO CF REPLACEMENT QUARTER WINDOWS WOULD BE GOOD TOO.

Hmmm, I didn't think about the quarter windows...if enough people are interested I might see what I could do about that :) This wouldn't happen for a few weeks though, I'm moving this weekend and I have to get through the first week of school/take a vacation from working before I start any new projects. Yes, the sunroof would DEFINITELY seal, I'm also looking into ways to counteract UV rays and make it last longer out in the sun. I do NOT want these things degrading from sunlight any time soon.

WELL MY CAR IS GOING TO BE GARAGED DURING DAYLIGHT AND ONLY RUN ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHTS FOR MIDNIGHT RUNS.... ANYWAY I KNOW THE CF QUARTERS ARE GOING TO BE ILLEGAL BUT IF IT CAOULD SHAVE SOME OF THE 55+LBS OF GLASS ON EITHER SIDE I'M DOWN. AND YOU NOT BEING ABLE TO DO IT FOR A WHILE IS FINE IT'LL ALLOW ME TO SAVE UP FOR THESE THINGS.

Yeah, the CF quarters would definitely be "for off road use only"

Are you sure the windows would be illegal?

I don't think there's any such regulation...

i really like the sunroof idea, thats genious, who looks out of thier sunroof while driving anyways? what would be really cool though, is if you could make it flush with the top of the car, and have some kind of weatherstripping under the glass on the edges so that it looks smooth but dosent leak

That's exactly what it will be ;) I also forgot to mention, it will utilize all of the factory mounting hardware, hinges, latch etc. It will be pre-drilled but you would have to supply your own hardware from your old sunroof. Unless you wanted to pay extra, in which case I am certain something could be arranged :) The sunroof would only need to be about 3 layers thick...that means that if nobody minded it FEELING really light and thin it would be plenty strong. I'll probably test them by standing on them...as soon as I make it with enough layers that it can support my weight (200lbs) thats the number of layers I will use, then people can feel safe sitting on their roof to watch fireworks etc. AZ, I'm not sure it'd be illegal...it just seems that blocking out a window would be, perhaps not though!

that is very nice to kno, what about carbon fiber headlight covers, the things that go on top if thats what they are called, for people with s13's and carbon fiber hoods, i think that would be pretty cool.

Hoods are too big for me, I have to build an "oven" to cure this stuff in, it cant be quite that large ;) GOOD suggestions on the rest of this stuff though! At this rate I'll be making a carbon fiber car...

edit: most of the stuff I make will be S13 specific because it makes it very simple to do development on it seeing as how I have one. If enough people want something for an S14, I'll go to the junkyard and pick up whatever part it is so I can copy it.

Go all the way and make some carbon-fiber doors! Probably be way to much work, but I saw them on that red Toyota Soarer D1 car and thought - Damn that would be sick. Still had power windows too! But I do like the thought of both the fuel door and headlight covers...

WELL HONESTLY I'D BUY EVERYTHING BUT THE FUEL DOOR (I WAS KIDDING ABOUT THAT). IF YOU WANT ME TO DRAW OUT A LAYOUT FOR THE GAUGE PANELS I CAN IF YOU'D LIKE. I'M GOING TO NEED THE GAUGE PANELS FOR MY CUSTOM INSTALL SO IF YOU'D BE WILLING TO DO IT I'D BE WILLING TO PAY.

The more carbon-fiber stuff the better. Even if I do like the thought of a carbon-fiber fuel door... (something you don't see very often...)

I see... Hey, you think you could also make a vented headlight cover, much like the C-West one?

I'll look into the vented headlights. Does anyone else have any requests? Right now we have requests for the following:sunroofheadlight covers (possibly vented)gas filler doorsquarter windows gauge panels to go in ac ventsgauge panel to fit under the radio ( you would have to pick gauges of the right size for this to be possible)gauge panel to hold custom gauges in the stock gauge pod location (I would need the specs on each gauge you planned to put into it in order to cut the holes correctly)strut tower braces (my request)

Who else would be interested in one of these parts? I cant even begin to get prices on this stuff...obviously the smaller it is...the cheaper.

yea thats what i mean, not vented but just the cover not the whole hood, another cool thing would be a carbon fiber gauge mount for the lil storage space underneath the factory stereo

Yeah, I was just thinking of a DIN sized gauge holder to go underneath the stereo, like the idea... Also, maybe a gauge pod that can be mounted ontop of where the vents are (not covering them) on the dash. Maybe fit two-three gauges in there or something...

front fenders and door skins(door skins would be easiest to make for you) would be mucha great.

also, just a note"gauge panel to hold custom gauges in the stock gauge pod location (I would need the specs on each gauge you planned to put into it in order to cut the holes correctly"

those are already being made, spl parts has a listing for them.

and, the windows would be a very, very bad idea, you'd save weight, but wouldnt be able to see crap...not good(stick with lexan guys..)

hrmm...uh. yeah, door skins would be nice and probably save a ton of weight, they already make hoods(duh).

if you make a set of S13 door skins, I'd buy them.-chet

Swift-drift- How could I get the HPI doors shipped to the us? Any website carry 'em? Also, isn't PS13 just the coupe model? Would these also fit the fastback RPS13?

Exar-Kun the dash gauge panel is not listed on their website, is it custom? Or are you talking about the dash gauge panel top gauge pods?
