1990 KA24e. Just replaced:

Waterpump (previous one was weeping)New 195 T-stat

Once I got everything put together, my 240 reaches operating temps pretty quickly because I hop on the highway fairly close to my house. HOwever it takes a good 15-20 minutes of this driving for her to dish out stiffling hot air. So hot I smell the rubber the mats lol

On the way home I take a backroad route and same deal, I'm almost home before hot air is coming out. I got all the air out of the system, coolant levels are great. Car gets to operating temps and stays there perfectly, she'll blow luke-warm air not long after starting and the temp needle is climbing.

I'm beginning to think my heater core is just showing it's age or maybe it's dirty... not sure. Maybe some sort of water blockage that freezes over night and then thaws after while of driving? (our temps here lately have been really cold)

whatcha think? Not much in the archives for heater cores other than fellas removing them lol
