Thinking about trading the G Sedan in on a 2008 G35X with 35K miles.

The car was a RENTAL at Enterprise

It drives great, looks great. I think it's platinum desert....looks to be a cross between sand/silver/titanium...Black interior, heated seats and most importantly for the wifie XM.Has been serviced with new tires.$25,988 and above trade in.

Soooooo, opinions??

Oh, I did call Enterprise and they change the oil about every 3.5K miles.

Reeeeally want an X.....BUT, do not want a NEW CAR payment!!!

I haven't read anything good about buying a rental car. The last thing I read said something along the lines of "The renter doesn't give a SH** and nor do the Enterprise Employees"

LOL! I hear ya Nate. Can't believe that all renters drive them like NICO members would!!! Drove the car again tonight and it is sweeeeet!!! The wifie has approved the trade.Called Enterprise and they gave me dates of oil changes.

Might pull the trigger in the AM!

If you have a buddy who can look at it, I would recommend it. If I were close to you, I'd check it out. But it doesn't sound too bad. I love the V36 models... what about the warranty?

warranty? has 34K miles. In service date is 2/2008Has warranty left. Might consider getting a Nissan extended warranty.

Gabe,I see in the owner's manual online there is a difference in manuals based on VIN. This is a later VIN, do you know what the difference was between the early 2008 and this one???

One other thing, is there a diagram that show HOW the AWD works??Is there power to BOTH front wheels and BOTH rear wheels??

One LAST thing, what would YOU look for??The dealership is supposed to replace the pads if < 50 percent.THey've replaced the tires.

Thinking about bringing it home, popping off the tires and checking the brakes myself.....

Sure you can't make a BBQ run today???

Definitely have it inspected...I know I don't treat rentals as nice as I treat my daughter's '94 Mazda. That would be my worry, but if they have maint. records (which you've looked into...you ARE smart!!), and carfax is clean (being a rental company that is ONE good thing...they will fix anything that goes wrong with it), then get it!

For the AWD system, the car is just like a 'regular' G, except when the system detects slip, then it transfers power to the front wheels (Max 50%). You can come from a stop at a l/r turn, and the tires will bark a bit, then the 'slip' light will come on the dash display...that is basically telling you that the power has been x-ferred to the front wheels. It's pretty hard to get too loose on dry pavement....and since mine is only 6 months old, I am still a bit of a b-itch when it comes to trying it out full throttle on snow covered parking lot (but that will happen sometime soon ). I can sometimes feel it in a tight turn...seems like the car is going...going...then it just grabs a little tighter to the road all of a sudden. I don't know if this is a 'G' thing or a 'G35/37X' thing, but I do like it - A LOT!!

Sounds like a champ if you have taken care of the worries! Good luck!

I know that most 2003-2006 g35X were not LSD in the front or rear. I would assume that for the V36 it is probably the same, although being newer they have to upgrade some things and maybe that was one of them.

Aside from that, the AWD system works the same as mentioned above.

The AWD system is well explained above. Only think I would add there is a snow buttom and it gives you 50/50 awd from the start with reduced throttle till 12 mph. That can help in snow rolling. It's not like you need it but you know for show. LOL

You'll have more than enough traction without pushing it. The awd kicks in if there is 5% more wheel spin on the rear. The sensor checks it like 100 times every second for wheel spin and adjust accordingly.

zozo, this one was perfect!!!All Renee really wanted was XM radio, heated seats and sunroof!!!All I wanted was that X on the rear end!!! So, it must be a base model X.Did not want Nav (have a Garmin) and did not want Sport (wanted 17 inch Rims).Soooooo, this one was perfect for us!!!! Plus, got great deal.

Renee had been wanting a white car, but she really liked the color combo on this one. It's Infiniti name is Desert Platinum , but the Nissan name really fits the color better - Champagne Silver reminds me of the 2002 Max we had that was Sterling Mist Silver

Rich,

Few things you should know.

The original brake rotors can warp quickly on the X. There are better aftermarket rotors and pads for it.

Also try to drive it at 40-45 mph at steady speed. If it feels a little jerky than take your car in. Hard to feel it and only comes on at that speed. It almost feels like when you drive the Manual and it is in higher gear than it should be. I thought it is the torque converter but there is a TSB well actually 2. One says to update the TCU and the other I think to replace the Valve boddy.

Just a warning you can lock your key in your trunk but can not in the cabin. Apperently it is a sedan thing. In the coupe you can't do either one but in the sedan you can lock your key in the trunk.

We have only seen the white stuff once so far this year... I hate snow + RWD, with the exception of some parking lot donut sessions.

Yep, can't wait to see the white stuff!!!! There has been only 1 winter that I didn't have a 4x4 since 1988.Very curious to see how the G does compared the the 4x4's I've owned in the past (Bronco II, Exploder, Pathy)As far as an extended warranty, will probably wait a year or so and get a Nissan one from my buddy's at Lake Norman Nissan. I get a reeeeally good deal on them.

LOL!!! Again, I don't think the average renter is a Nico member!!! Sure, somebody is going to rent it and have beat on it. I beat on it last night some. I think I would rather take my chances on a rental than a Nico member's car!!! (no offense my Nico brothers!!!)

It may be a rental but it's still under the full manufacturers warranty. Same with the wife's '07 G35s sedan I picked up. It even had a SES and I was not worried about it. A trip to Infiniti and everything was as good as new.

Now, I'm waiting for snow around here to see how well the sedan works with traction control and the Hankook tires. I still have the factory tires on the coupe so it sure won't be seeing any snow.

Not worried either. Felt better after talking to Enterprise and getting some service dates. Degreased the bottom and top of the engine yesterday. Wasn't that dirty, but there was some oil from some sloppy oil changes.I likes my underside clean for when I do my oil changes!

Yes! Yes! looking forward to some white stuff here too!!!!

Got 1 coat of Zaino on her yesterday and hope to get another on it today while she's still spotless.
