College started and they're having problems getting the internet hooked up in the dorms after some renovations. Anyway, I'm home for Labor Day weekend and have internet access again for a few days.

For those who don't know (just about everyone here I think) I changed majors from Criminal Justice to Theology. It's much more interesting and enjoyable. I'm going to Texas Bible College and will be for the next three years. After that maybe law school or go for a masters or something.

I almost titled this thread "I'm still alive!" then I remembered the hurricane and decided not to. We are housing about 300 refugees on the TX District UPC Campgrounds next door though. Hopefully I'll get a chance to volunteer and help out in the upcoming weeks.

It's studying biblical history, prophecy, some comparative religion, hermeneutics (Meaning to accuratly interpret a literary work. Hermeneuticly interpretting The Bible is sometimes called Biblical Hermeneutics or Hermineutica Sacra.), and stewardship.

What can I do with it? Well... not a whole lot but I enjoy it. Eventually I'd like to teach the stuff but in the meantime missionary to Japan sounds like fun....

EDIT: It feels good to be on NICO again. Even if it's only for a few days on my old dial-up. However, I should have DSL by the end of the week. Well, I should have had it a week and half ago but their tech guy took another job.

Yeah, not pastoral though. I'm just not that type of person. *knocks on wood* Evangelistic work would be neat but I dunno. I may go for a masters or a may go to law school afterwards. Dunno.

don't wanna tell you how to live your life, but I think law school would be more beneficial.

Pastors make decent money and it can be quite fulfilling. Of course, that depends on which congregation in what town.

Law school would equal the potential for money but I really enjoy teaching (I've been an assistant martial arts instructor for a few years now.) so I'll probably go that route.

The M is running like a champ... with some nissan parts rigged into the emissions system to get it to pass. (pictures soon).

I deleted the 2nd bay of oxygen sensors and put a fresh belt on the supercharger.

Next up will be a new exhaust from the headers back.

I practice the obscure art of Lau Hu Pai. It stems from China but isn't really Kung Fu.

Gung Fu, Okinawan Karate, and Aiki (sp?) jutsu.

Our white belt curriculumn starts with black belt Okinawan Karate to make a foundation for the Chinese Gung Fu at black belt. We scatter some basic Gung Fu into the colored belt curriculumn as well. And Aiki is studied in concert all through the curriculumn.

The difference between Gung Fu and Kung Fu is Kung Fu originates from the Shoalin Temple while Gung Fu originates from the Sun Tzu Temple.

I'd assume with different forms and styles as well.

sounds like a nice combination of different forms of fighting.

you don't ever wanna get stuck to a certain style. styles must be ever changing.

honestly, styles are for fashion magazines...

You caught me we have a lot of other arts we've taken stuff from (A recent example being Seven-Star Praying Mantis). Those get lumped into the curriculum wherever they fit well or taught as extra curricular but we only take the most effective portians of what we don't already cover. We've amassed over 300 legitimate katas (By legitamate I mean more than just a few steps and blocks taught in sequence. We call those exercises.). Aproximatly 30 katas are taught before black belt.
