For the last year and a half, I have been looking for a 240. Lack of money, want to much, and multiple reasons has prevented me from owning one, untill tonight...or so I though. I find the perfect 240 for me. '93, Right color, no rust, good engine, coupe and right price. So last friday I call the guy up and tell him I want to go see the car. Call up a mechanic friend of mine, get both of our plans changed so we can drive the 2 hours to go look at this car. Get there, cars just what I thought it would be. Drive it, its great. Since he was asking fair price, I agree to buy it for the listed price on tuesday (today, the soonest I would be able to come pick it up). Didn't ask for anymoney down, and i wanted to get a carfax run anyways. Carfax comes back clean. Talk to him twice that weekend to make sure everythig is cool. Talk to him this afternoon to let him know I'm on my way. He says "Oh, sorry but I sold the 240 about an hour ago..." WTF??? No explination. He just leaves it at that. Here I am calling friends to get deals on wheels/tires, putting my integra up forsale and telling everyone about how nice the 240 is im getting. I dont even know what to do. If the guy didnt live 2 hours away I'd be at his door b!tching him out.

Like i said, I am pissed...

That sucks man. It took me a few months to find my car, and even that was a freak accident. I don't know if you like convertibles, but there are 2 in your area on autotrader.com , fyi. They might require a little more upkeep than a hatch or coupe, but they look damn good and i'm sure are a joy to drive in the spring/summer/fall with the top down.

Never been a fan of the convertibles, and i think 4k for a s13 is a little much anyways.

First, if you didn't get it in writing, too bad. The 240 is a popular car right now, you can't expect someone to just hold one for you. That's totally unrealistic. Secondly....(sileighty steven) how can you swap the body of a 240? Its a unibody car...the frame and body are integral. Unless you meant body panels...

That sucked.. Well.. Glad you found another one.. Its alright though, I was stupid enough to buy a car off ebay, and ended up with f--kin' problems the guy never told me about, spent about 2k after and still have to replace the radiator support and straighten the frame.. F--k, I feel stupid.. I can't even get a hold of the a$$hole that sold me the car now.. Anyway.... Good luck...

Sorry to hear your experience. My GF went through that experience recently when she was looking for a car. Just be patient and a better car will come.

when buying cars you have to be patient, take your time on everything and dont get too excited from seeing a car that could possibly be yours soon. That happened to me and baught a car that had the whole rear end rusted out on it.

I've put a 50% downpayment on a car before... But the owner decided to sell it to someone else anyways.

It was a really good deal too, and I sure was pissed.. But I didn't want to piss the owner off too much since he still had my money.

Fortunately, I got my deposit back.

Like everyone said.. patience patience patience!

I'm happy the deal fell through on that 86 anyways... Especially since I got my s13

I bought my Kouki S14 for a lady like 28 years old. She bought the car new. And when I got there I was checking out the car and gave her an offer of $4,800 and she went inside to call someone to see if it was a good offer and a car rolls up. They ask if the car was sold yet, and I said YEP, even though it wasn't. Had I been there 5 min's later, I most likely would not have gotten it.

Sucks to listen to your story because it seems like you invested a lot of time and effort for this guy and he screwed you over. Oh well, just keep looking.

Good deal. I drove and picked up an auto 89 coupe about 5 hours away with 79K on it for dirt.

I got mine for 1200. Then I found out why it was being sold so cheap. A month later the SOHC blew. That was f-u-n.
