So I pulled my valve cover off to paint it today and oh what a site i saw....

This thing is so clean it scares me.I really thought that a 110k mile junkyard motor that's been boosted for the past 6k miles would be a lot dirtier than this.

that is silly clean....mine was so much worse... must have been a grandma who owned your motor before you. a grandma with a knack for oil changes that is.

Very misleading title. I'm happy your motor is so clean though.

what kind of oil were you running?? Any additives? My head was browned from oil residue (or whatever) after only a few thousand miles (probably leftover grime from the turbo). It almost looks like your valvetrain was freshly sprayed with carb cleaner or something....

I've always run mobil one with no additives. The only thing I've done is spray combustion cleaner in it. (You know the stuff you spray in the intake and it makes your motor run like crap and blow out white smoke for 20 miles). I don't see how that could have gotten past the valve train though.Hell even the bottom of the valve cover was just as shiny.

I've never been able to distinguish the green and red labels on the cams that easily before. How the DEVIL did whoever came before you have it that way.

I have no earthly idea.I guess it could have been a rebuilt engine but i don't knowthis is the 4th motor that's been in this car and NONE of them have looked that clean. I mean i truely thought that the cam towers were originally black. :) But i guess not.
