I'm no drag racer, but it sure felt nice to spank an IS-300...

All the previous cars I've owned have been dogs. This '00 Maxima is no dog, that's for sure...

And I've never really been challenged at a stop light, save for when I was a teenager in my 3/4 ton truck. ...So when a guy zips through out town's traffic obviously having fun in his IS-300 Sport Cross and I follow for the hell of it, we end up at the beginning of a series of very distantly-placed traffic lights.

First couple lights we both flubbed our launches. But we both timed our "rolling second starts" right, and, well, the Maxima manhandled the IS-300.

The Maxima (stock as hell) continued to dominate the rest of the runs as well.

Wow. Nice.

I know the IS-300 Sport Cross is a different class of vehicle, but it is at least in the same 3000-3200lb curb weight, 200-225hp import category.

Anyway, I haven't been able to gloat about this to anyone, so I figured I'd do it here. I'm really impressed by this car's power. I can't wait to see what better spark management, better intake, and better exhaust will do for the vehicle's straight-line motivational capabilities...

Congrats on the kill! Nicely done!

I've been satisfied with my I35's horsepower from day 1. My only issue is that it seems to have a delayed powerband. It's got some hefty acceleration power, but it takes a second or two to really feel it get up and go.
