A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Hey, could someone help me out? I have a 2000 Sentra SE. Mechanic says I need to replace my AC compressor. A new compressor costs about 750.00, but a remanufactured costs about 450.00. Is it worth the price difference to get a new compressor, or will a reman work just as well? I'm hoping to keep this car for several more years, so I don't want to replace the compressor again after a couple years. Thanks

A remanufactured one is likely to last as long as a new one, so it seems worth the gamble to me.

If you go to autozone to buy the remanufactured one most of their reman parts come with lifetime warranties

I'd try buying a new car. Or at least something worth wild.

buying a new car has nothing to do with an a/c compressor. what do u suggest, a honda? they're good for a 100% nothing. it's not cost-efficient to buy a new car anyway.

you can try junk yards or also search on ebay lots of nissan truck parts at a pretty good deal.. well, if you have enough budget for a newer car..it would be a good option..

Again, I have to wonder why you've come to this board to start ****?

Answer the question reasonably or don't say anything, troll. The point was made - buying a new car isn't cost-effective, and I have to add that it's also a pain in the ***, especially since selling a car with a busted A/C isn't exactly easy.

I always try Ebay or craigslist.com and every now and then I find some good stuff (compressors, starters, distributors, etc.) for not too much $$$. Reman stuff isn't bad, but you can't go wrong using original factory parts either.
