Hey Everyone,

I'm new to this forum and I have to apologize to Dizzy562 because I totally jacked their thread by introducing myself there, sorry, thanks for filling me in Dattebayo! So I'm just introducing myself, as I stated in the other thread (once again, sorry, I'm new to using forums in general and well I admit I should have read all the rules!) I haven't owned a 240 yet, but I've been looking into them and from the backing I've seen, it seems to be a really great car to learn how to work on and drive plus I'm a fan of the Nissan brand anyway with my first car being an '88 Nissan 300ZX, so it's a win-win for me.

I definitely have some more learning to do about 240s before I buy one and I figured this was the best place to start.

I own a snapping turtle :) and that is no joke. It turned 3 in June and I've had it since it was a wee baby. Its name is Turtle (lame I know), I thought about Tokka, but I just couldn't make my mind up and went with what was most fitting.

Nah, I'm not about fads or crazes. I actually don't like cars that are considered cute, they have to be sexy. If I'm not instantly attracted, would make sweet sweet love to a car (if it where possible) by look, and how it feels when being driven, I will not like it. Like Sunfires, Grand Ams, Aleros, all notorious, cute, chick cars, which is just not my style and I won't even get started on the Prius. I like cars that are rare, and am generally not a fan of American cars, although I will say the Challenger is one of the only cars that has come out of the US lately that I actually like because they did a good job of capturing the old body style but modernizing it in a way that is pretty solid without it being too plastic and cheap looking/feeling, in my opinion.

I have always wanted a Z32 300ZX but after learning about how hard they are to work on, and the expense it is to maintain them, I decided that's not something I should start on. I've also always wanted to own an E46 M3, but once again, due to the cost, I'm not going to be able to afford something like that for a while. My fiance turned me onto the 240 because he used to own one before we were ever together and knew I wanted a car that I could learn to work on, and could give it a clean, classy look for a reasonable cost, which the 240 is capable of doing all of that. He's much more knowledgeable on cars than I am so I figured having a car that he already knows the ins and outs of seemed logical, but I still wanted to come to a decision on my own. I started looking into them and the more I've learned about them, the more I like them. I finally was able to test drive one about a month ago, and although it was an auto and I prefer manual, it pretty well sealed the deal. A car that feels that solid and powerful with a 4 cyl engine is definitely something I can get behind.

Well it's not generally an easy motor to work on, but the brakes are a piece of cake. It's a predictable car to drive, but I hate driving them in winter. They handle snow so badly that I used to just take the bus when we get a storm.

They do last forever if you don't wreck them first. Just saying my piece.

You don't think a 240 is easy to work on? Man, you must be some kinda spoiled haha.

Anyway, welcome again! Are you dead set on an S14, or would an S13 be acceptable as well?

The brakes are a pain in the a**. I absolutely hate working on my brakes, the pad holders teeth thingies are a joke, and spinning the ebrake thing back is frustrating as hell.

Everything else is easy peasy.

I've removed and replaced a KA24 several times, swapped out cams and head inside the car, and even worked on a couple SR20 swaps, and i always thought it was a pretty straight forward car to work on.

Her and i work in the same place and we will just carpool in the bronco when the snow is bad. :)

So why were you initially interested in the 240?

OMG LMAO that was hilarious... :rotflmao

Ask my car lol. It got molested by a steel gaurd rail about a year ago. And two years before that my buddy molested it with a fire hydrant for me. I was not happy.

But I think suspension upgrades and minor motor upgrades on these cars are a good thing since most aren't done retardedly like on so many honda's you see with cut springs and shiz...

And I think body/wheel mods are generally not usually ricey or stupid on a 240 and most look bad A**. Especially the ones on this forum. You don't find too much stupidity done on these cars very often really.. That said there are always exceptions lolz.

Yeah, I'm pretty anxious to find one, and not just because my current car is starting to take a huge crap on me. The only issue is I'm pretty picky on the color, I either want it in black, red or white and I really wish there were more around my area.

Well, our winter really destroys cars. If you want to have a nice(r) car that is mostly hobby, you generally store it during the winter, but even still, cars rust out a lot quicker here than anywhere else. I will say though that one of my favorite times of year is when it starts warming up and people start getting out their stored cars and motorcycles.

the main reason I like 240s is not because they are cheap and easy to make fast/perform well. I like them due to the fact of aftermarket support, Visual and performance wise. Even though people follow fads, it is possible to make your 240 completely different from any other 240 out there. Billions of different types of aero. Billions of conversions. Billions of possible power plants. The list goes on. Not to mention I like the way they look, and I like lightweight FR cars from the 90s. 90s Japanese FR cars FTW.

Agreed. That's what I've grown to like about 240s is that they have so many options. I'm sure a lot of us would love to design a car that's put into major production, but since most of us don't get that opportunity, it's nice to have a car that is so flexible with how it can be modified and molded. I really can't wait until I find one and bring her home :naughty:
