I'd go with the S14 if it were me... simply because it might utilize a different vacuum hose or some crap somewhere. Chassis braces can be fabbed/modified as needed and aren't as important.

Dear papasmurf/speedeast,

I cant seem to find the smog laws regarding old cars, do either of you two know how old a car has to be to not have smog regulations anymore?
reason I ask is because I kinda want to go pick up a soarer z20 in the next few years haha

love telusethegoose.

It varies from state to state. Hell, come to Mississippi, no cars in my county get smogged.

How can that be messed up? Its all kinda engineered correctly from the factory, unless you bent it somehow...

I have a 96 240sx. Is there supposed to be a o2 sensor after the cat? cause there isn't one on my car. I see one in my engine bay by exhaust manifold and one just before the cat. (on the downpipe)

Edit: I don't think I have a stock Cat.It has 2.75" piping on both inlet and outlet. Only codes I'm throwing are P0440. (Which is an evap leak, but I thought that was due to my vent control valve. I wouldn't think they would be related.

2nd Edit: Found out the 2nd "cat" on a s14 is just a resonated dummy cat.

Fuel rails SHOULD go on with ease. Also, there is a tightening sequence for most; I would recommend using it.

Hey, got a s13. One of the mounting bolts for the seat rail to the floor was cross threaded, bolt won't go in properly. Whats the best way to fix this?

Thanks!

Try chasing a tap through it... it might clean the threads up enough to work the bolt back through. If that doesn't work, you could drill it out, then weld a nut onto the sheet metal and use that.

I seem to remember my blockoff plate having 3 bolt holes. I'd go with link #2.

hey guys,
ok so i bought my s14 and decided to clean engine bay, so i took off the clutch fan, battary, distributor cap, intake. and i cleaned the engine w/ degreaser..and now i was putting everything back. and started the car but the engine is vibrating and the idle is droping and feels like its gonna shut off w/ alot of vibration from engine?
Also i installed an Air Intake..and no clutch fan is installed as of now since i will be putting in electric fans.
wondering wat it could be?
i just checked the FSM and wondering if i put back the distributer cap the wrong way because FSM says that it has to be lined up? so im wondering if thats the issue or anything else.

You probably shouldn't have removed the distributor cap to clean it... you might have gotten water in your ignition electronics and FUBARd everything up.

I searched but didnt find what I was looking for.

Does anyone have a link to a write up or site or know themselves which vacuum hoses on the rats nest on the back of the motor need to disappear for an egr delete? When I got the car the tube running from the egr to the downpipe was hacked off and that was the previous owners attempt at a delete.

Realistically, to remove "EGR" you only need to remove the line and block it off at the exhaust and the intake manifold. Make sure you remove the EGR valve altogether and use a good block off plate.

If you meant to remove emissions altogether, then that gets a little more detailed.

Yeah emissions as a whole is what I meant. I found that writeup after I posted this ( and my dad later on found the one with the pictures) We have it all removed though. Thanks for pointing the link out anyways.

+1, we lost a lot of the pictures for our articles through forum changes. We even contacted the author to try to get them back (Fiznat), but he didn't have them.

Hey guys I'm new here and I'm looking into buying my first car (I'm 15) and I would love to have a 240sx so I can get into drifting and I think getting a fixer like this 240sx from a local forum that I'm on would be a good way for me to learn more and work on my car until I turn 16. I really just want some advice from people that know what they are doing. Is it worth the price (got him down on the price)?

Heres the link -

* There are more pics on page 2 of the car. I also know that the swap with the newer KA was done 2 months ago and the ride height is goofy because he has stock springs.

Thanks to those of you ahead of time that decide to help me out. =)

Looks like we aren't allowed to view unless we are members at that forum. Can you just re-link the images to this forum? If you don't know how, there are directions in the FAQ.

I'm having some trouble understanding your question... are you asking if there is some sort of way that you see the HICAS rear steering "turn on" on your 240sx? If so, I don't think there is... it just sort of works in the background. There is a "HICAS" light on your dash, but I think that only lights up when there is a problem... but I could be wrong.
