I'm new to the forum so wuts up guys. I just have two questions really. Im looking at buying this 1989 s13 with an sr20det swap. The things it has done to it so far is fmic, full 3inch exhaust, walbro 255 LPM pump, oil catch can, nismo motor and transmission mounts, goodridge steel braided turbo lines, ACT strip/street clutch full face disk, ACT extreme pressure plate, brembo rotors, hawk brake pads. The car will need paint because it has some rust spots but the interior is clean with only a tear in driver seat (i'm replacing seats anyway) and other than that its good to go as far as I know. The only two issues I noticed was that the tachometer wasn't working (b/c he did something with the cams and idk exactly what but I will need to do some wiring but I'll most likely just get aftermarket tach), and the power steering cable was busted at the top by the seal. Ok my two questions are:
1) The guy is asking $3500 for it, is that a fair price or should I try to talk him down?
2) If I do actually get this car, how hard will it be (and roughly how much money) will take to get it putting down about 250hp on a low tune like 9psi for daily driving and like 300hp on a more aggresive tune like 13psi?
Thanks for the help!

If the car is clean, it's worth that. A good SR will cost you that much.

Drive it. If it feels solid, and there's no weirdness, then you're probably ok.

I'd be real concerned about rust (make sure it's no up in the strut towers or frame rails). Aftermarket tachs are crap, fix the stock on (and find out the REAL reason it's not working).

Your proposed HP numbers won't be hard to get to - Get it in tip-top condition, first.

Thanks man! I did drive it and the clutch is very stiff and grabs very good! He did a few 1-3rd pulls with me in the car and there was no clutch slipping or anything like that and although he didn't go to 5th Ill make sure it's good to go before I decide on the purchase. I'll check for rust like you said and he said that he just didn't have the correct wiring to hook up the tach when he did the swap. I don't know exactly wut wiring I will need but I've seen the same situation on many sr's on youtube so it's not too big of a deal. I really don't need a tach for daily driving b/c I can just tell when to shift, ya know? But eventually I will wanna do some pretty hard pulls (who wouldn't) and I need to know exactly where I'm at in the rpm's.

Welcome to NICO. I'm sure you'll find every bit of info about an SR you could possibly need here.

Something else you need to do with that car is pop the hood and look at the wiring. If it's shotty, you might want to invest in a new one from Wiring Specialties (Review done with my car here: wiring-specialties-s13sr-into-s13-wirin ... l#p5687855 ).

A tach is definitely a must. To fix the tach, you need to switch to a 91-94 (DOHC) gauge cluster. No extra wiring needs to be done.

As far as 250-300hp, that's EASY. T28 Turbo, 550cc injectors, Z32 MAF, Rom Tune, and some 264/264 cams. I recommend you check out the following thread for some good horsepower guidelines so you'll have a good idea of what will do what for you.

Thanks for the suggestions man! I really appreciate it. Hopefully I can get the car soon and start working away at it. The only other thing I know I need is a new tubing for power steering b/c the line is busted at the top by the seal and I need to get the a/c fixed cause I live in Arkansas and when summer rolls around I'm not gonna be sweating my a** off haha.

No problem, man. That one is also a great NICO sponsor. My turbo and some other nice goodies came from them.
