I'm joining the broken transmission club!!

I have a awd 2009 Rogue with 8000 miles and the transmission started making a noise yesterday. The noise is a grinding sound mostly when the car is slowing down. I took it to Nissan yesterday and today they told me I need a new transmission and it will take over a week. My local Nissan did not know of any problems with the CVT and they had no idea that Nissan had extended the warranty to 10 years 120,000. I have a loaner for now.

Thankfully you're ok. Its too bad that it happened but im glad they are helping you out with the transmission and seem to be covering any issues you may have had.

Yes, thank you. I was coming back from the Serria Nevada when the transmission started to fail. I thought about just pulling over and having it towed but it was still shifting ok. I just drove it right to the dealer and they set me up with a loaner. I hope once they put in the new transmission I will not have to revisit this problem again.

Welcome to the club, I am working on my 4th transmission. I find it hard to believe that your dealership was unaware of any transmission problems but god luck. When slowing down from say 40-30 the transmission would make a grinding like noise just like yours...
