Before my clutch went, me and friends took noticed that both my rear-wheels were spinning like crazy and the one wheel wasn't locking like it was made to do, my diff has 210k mileage, so I'm looking for a cheap lsd upgrade? do the 300zx one's fit?

Weld that $hit! You will like it once you get it done. cheap lsd's are a waste of money. Unless you buy a nice one for 800+.

I wonder how good a full locker would work :P I bet that thing would throw you all over the road when it engages.

I have one in my 4Runner and when it engages with 33's they will squeel sometimes.

hrmmmm think about it.... i don't need to weld my diff, the gears are already broken!!! I know this because both wheels spins. And since my diff is already broken it wouldn't be a smart idea to weld a diff with 210kmileage on it and that is already broken.

There are 5-6 people in MN who I know that have welded diffs in 240's. They all would not go back to stock. The olney complaints we have about daily driving them is that they chirp when you turn slowly or chirping when parking your car. A welded diff can be done right for $100. I have one in my s13 and would not go back. I have not been to any drift events with it yet as it was done at the end of the year. Next season I will be rocking it out. 240's are so light that its no big deal to weld the diff.

okay yeah but your not getting it... the gears they weld inside the diff,, mine are already broken, so i really don't need to weld anything cuz now my gears are broken i'm getting both wheels to spin, and i wanna change out my diff sicne my car is already on jack-stands and i want to change my diff soon before i drive on it again and i dont wanna take a chance of it crapping out and then I'd be stuck somewhere in bumble-**** land. lol

To answer your question, yes, i think the differential from the 300zx will fit. but be careful because they ran different ratios than the 240sx. also, to get a good condition used r200v is like 400 bux.

A welded diff is counterproductive in anything other than dragracing of drifting ,because (as a roadracer and autox enthusiast )my experience is that full lock diffs cause under steer during braking and turn-in and unpredictable oversteer on exit and scrub off alotta corner speed not to mention the obvious tire wear issues ,but each to their own ,it all depends on the intended use ,if ya wanna be fast allaround a good LSD is impossible to beat.IMHO

VLSDs from the S13, S14, Z32 NA, J30 and some skylines (not sure which)all fit but they are all the same internally except the gear ratio in the J30 (all the rest are 4.08). from one VLSD to another there are no upgrades aside from age/mileage. the S15 also has a VLSD but the thing to go for from that car is the HLSD in the R-type. i have one, it's sweet.

is yours actually broken? spinning wheels sounds more like crappy tires, not a bad diff. or do you mean the wheels spin freely while it's up in the air and in gear? which it shouldn't do normally.

Welded diffs blow for city driving and anything but drifting/drag racing. You will chew up your tires in a few months (at best), attract police attention, and your car will either always badly understeer or always badly oversteer.

Welding your diff is idiotic. Just use an open diff and learn how to drive.

Open diffs are good enough for lotus, so they're good enough for me.

What the heck did you do to blow an open diff? Go drag racing with 295 slicks, with a hardass launch, with no oil in the rear end? Even then, I think you'd snap an axle before the diff would go.. I can't believe that you destroyed your differential, even for a small car, the R200 is a pretty beefy piece. Have you opened the pumpkin to verify that your diff is shot? Anyway, to help you out in your quest - Z32 diffs will fit, but most have lower (numerically) gear ratio, meaning your car will feel sluggish. I think a good search of for sale sections of various forums will find you a vlsd for a decent price.. good luck..

i thought i already made it clear that naturally aspirated Z32s have the same ratio as the 240sx, 4.08. it's the TT diffs that are different, and those don't fit anyway.
