I realized today that in saving money by working on my car, I just might be killing myself slowly...

On Monday I had been working on my car doing all sorts of things (new y-pipe, groundkit, oil change, knock sensor adjustment) Afterwards, I had to head off to school and on my way there my SES light comes on. I had my laptop with me so I plugged it in when I got to school and P1400 came up. My EGR...crap. So, for the last two days I've been cleaning my engine and doing research on how to clean/fix my EGR and fretting having to spend a butt load of money to buy a new one. So, today I went out and bought some Deep Creep hoping that maybe the hose was plugged with gunk. Halfway through the whole process I look down where the knock sensor is and I see the green plug unplugged... This whole time I had simply left the cable unplugged. Good thing I'm not a surgeon...I'd probably leave a glove in there if given the chance.

you should be glad that was the only thing wrong with the car. You might feel stupid for leaving it unplugged but better that than having to buy new parts right ? Especially on a student's budget.

Glad that's all it was, could have been a lot worse. Kinda funny you're in San Jose, because that is where my stepson lives. I just gave him my Maxima back in July.

Did you leave all the goodies on it? I've seen a few "performance" oriented Max's round here, but mostly show maxima's with 20 inch rims, fading paint, and sub's so loud you can hear the intake manifold rattling right off.

Im a resident. When an OR/ER room is setup up for surgery, there is a count sheet for anything and everything in that room. Surgeons have to count everything before they close any incision to ensure every sponge, needle, tool, gloves, ect is accounted for.

Absolutely nothing to do with cars, but just useless information I felt the need to share.

Yes, I did. It has: intake, exhaust, RSB, FSTB, RSTB, Eibach's and Illumina's, HID lights, drop resistor mod, and a few other things that I can't remember off the top of my head.

He got the score of a lifetime in getting that car for free. I scored as well, getting the G35, but I have a payment now, which is FTL.

That was a really interesting read. Wouldn't there be a way to reprogram the ecu to ignore codes? I mean, they can eliminate the speed limiter and remap the air/fuel curves...why not reprogram the ecu to do what the user wants? Hasn't any one come up with something to chance the ecu for driving and then change it for smogging with a laptop?
