I just finished cleaning my stock TOURING wheels and i noticed in the back its 235/50/17 and i was like what the heck? I thought everything was 225/50/17 and so i ordered 4 of the toyo proxes 4 225/50/17's . I'm wondering why the rear tires are a higher. Will I still be good with the 225's for the rear or I have to get 235?

If you have a 03 or 04 Z you will be fine with the 225's. And they (front and rear) are both 8 inches wide so it should not matter. Just for youe info you can use all the way up to a 265 on that Touring rim. The 05 + had a rear width wheel of 8.5 iinches, which used a 245. Let us know how they ride.

I don't know if this is accurate or not, but I was told that the difference in the front and rear tires on the early Z's were to help understeer/oversteer issues.

Don't know what to tell you. I had new tires put on the back when I bought it and I just added the fronts a week or so ago.

Hello All,

I though I would share my tire story here with everyone. I bought my 2004 Z roadster last April in New Hampshire. I had the dealership where I purchased my Z do a rim & tier swap from an ohter Z on thier lot. They put on rear 20" TSW Nongaro rims with 20" Toyo Proxes T1R tires. On the front going with 19" Nongaro with 19" Toyo tires.

So begians the learing curve. I asked the dealerhsip to do a wheel alingment on the car becuase the car pulled to the right. In my excitement of becoming a Z owner it was fantastic to have these tires & rims on my car. Only after 11K mile of driving on these tires. My left rear tire went bad and became flat. Ater geting my car towed to the dealership for service I was told that the inside beed of the Toyo tire was defective. My extended service plan covered tire 100%.

Whell this April I go to the dealership for my state inspection. Asking more question about if my tires are balanced out properly. They said yes but the my right rear drive side tire was low on tread and should be replaced. I was ok with that. Until I go to Town Fair Tire a dealer of aftermarket tires & rims. Looking for a lug rench to get the tire off in an energency. They pointed out that again the inside of the right rear tire was worn down to nothing.

I bouth a a new rear tire,4 wheel alingment & computer balancing for my Z.So now I'll tell the the dealership was way off on how the tires were set up for my car.

It is like night and day driving my car now after geting it service @ Town Fair.So every one do your home work make sure to ask lots of question before you send your money. Let me know how you make out.
