the most awesomely cool thing would be if i could get an lcd screen put in instead of stock gauges that would display all the parameters...a touch screen so i can mod the data as i drive! but that would be damn expensive so i guess i'll just buy a pda instead.

Thats pretty sick you gonna mount the pda to your dash so its nice and easy to control while driving? It will kinda work like the eclipse on the Fast N Furious. You plannin on racing that beast?

FnF... i'm getting it because i don't like going to somebody to get codes pulled etc and with additional software i will be able to tune it somewhat. and it's been getting street time since i had it no bull though.

Why not buy an actual OBD II scanner? I know it has no ability to do anything special, but you can at least check and clear your own codes.

i don't want just a scanner because the good ones go into a few $k and this is a cheap alternative plus i can monitor a lot of data especially with a setup i'm working on/getting parts for...slowly.

as for hooking up a a tablet pc...i don't even know what that is bro and only hp/compaq ipaq works with it for now so that's what i'm getting after the cable.

it's all still damn expensive to me because i'm a sole provider for my family but once my wife's back to work...i'm going crazy spending!

This Actron scanner would help you in the 'just codes' area. It goes for $50 - $70 depending on where you get it from.

before i went to work on sunday i bought the cable with a software cd for $60 shipped, just got back home and waiting for it to arrive - i'm hoping by the end of the week. i'll post if i'm happy with it or not so if anyone is looking into that kind of thing they'll have some reference.

so after a long a$$ wait i got my cable, installed the software (which i'll share if anyone wants) hooked it up to my car and got the codes read and cleared. all gravy until i started the car and lost connection and couldn't reconnect using the provided soft or datascan. i've read somewhere that some ecu types don't allow real time logging. anyone know anything about that?
