After all this time of hearing the buzzing in my trunk, I'm replacing my fuel pump with one I got from Joe. I have the fuel pump, o-ring, and fuel filter. I am a novice at this, so any tips would be appreciated. I found this excellent thread.

15 posts down, tangalora post a very good step by step that should be very helpful, not only that, Wes hooked me up with the FSM. Thanks Wes. The FSM doesn't say much on the replacement, but it gives good info on removing the rear seats. I'm assuming that my FP controller is ok, so all I’m doing is replacing the pump. I'm sure there's a lot of you guys have done the FP and I was wondering if you have any tips out there. Things I should do. I'm a nervous novice mechanic, and any extra info would be welcomed.

I also got a new air filter and I was wondering how to clean the air box and the MAF. I might as well do it while I'm there.

Thank you

Lou

Just be sure to run the fuel puressure off (pull pump fuse at idle) and remove the gas cap. Once you're in there you'll want to have several rags on hand. If you're careful you can do it without any spills. The biggest thing is to not overtorque the screws that hold the pump in place. Breaking those off could mean a new tank!

Take your time & don't smoke.

Be careful about the inner lip on the top of the tank, it's razor sharp. It will cut you and/or the wiring.

Don't worry. I'll leave my pack of Malrboros in the house.
