Noob to the NICO forums and just took delivery of my new car...

2012 Altima Coupe
3.5 SR
6 sp Manual
Winter Frost w/Blonde leather interior

Could not be more pleased! I have to give a shameless plug to Grossman Nissan in Old Saybrook, CT- they have been truly impressive. Wandered onto the lot one Sunday, curious about the Altima Coupe, specifically looking for a 3.5 manual. Add to that, I also wanted one with a light interior, preferring the white paint. I quickly discovered I was CAPT Ahab in search of the White Whale... I had no idea how uncommon the 3.5/6sp combo actually was; forget specific color combos.

Fast-forward week and they called to inform me they had located one and had it shipped to their store! Exact engine, transmission, color, interior and options I was looking for. I could not have taken a dealer check-list and factory ordered it any more precisely.

New to the Nissan moniker (1st ever) but looking forward to learning....

Congrats and welcome! Finding a 6mt is like winning the lotto. Consider yourself a very lucky man.

Has been an intersting change of pace; we moved up to Clinton in July of last year (from SE Georgia).

I am still impressed with Grossman in Old Saybrook- will see how their "new" service deprtment is when they are done with the renovations.

Looks like there is a meet-and-greet in Berlin (I think) next month on the 22nd; maybe see you there...

GA to CT, that is quite a change! Consider yourself lucky for your first year here as this has been the mildest winter I've seen here in years (aside from the October storm).

Where did you read about the meet and greet?

It was listed on another forum (altimaforums) listed in the Regions section (Northeast).
Not linking to the site to try and stay in the good graces of the folks here and not trying to dance around any rules.

It looks to be a general meet with various folks including Nissan, Infinity, Subaru and such.

Sunday, 22 April - 1pm
Sage Park [1591 Berlin Tpke, Berlin, CT 06037]

Anyway, I have been VERY thankful that the most winter frost this year has been on my new car! I was up here years ago but between the Southeast and Hawaii, my blood has thinned!

I have actually had a few embarassing situations in the new Coupe- the clutch engages MUCH lower than the old Honda I had and have managed to stall it out a couple of times... Really feel like a NOOB!

I like you! You know the rules of the road!

The clutch in the Altima is definitely different but boy is it fun to drive!

Just got the car back from the dealership following a few "new-car-tweaks" for minor issues.

The iPod/USB didn't work- replaced the head unit. Minor door-ding (about the size of a dime)- fixed. It tended to drift to the left so they did an alignment tweak and trued the steering wheel.

Took her for a back-road blast today and was surprised; chirped the wheels in 3rd passing a car! Not expected and now that I've passed the 1k mile mark I don't feel so bad winding her out!

Too cool!

Lucky find! There wasn't a single 3.5 6MT for sale in the entire country when I was shopping for mine. I am jealous to say the least.

I was "curious" about the A/C 3.5 6mt, but had no clue it was rare until I started asking around. Nothing to be found until Grossman in Old Saybrook went out of their way to get one in. There was a metric-butt-load of 2.5 CVT coupes out there, but very few 3.5SR models and ZERO 6mt- forget a particular color combo.

The 1st search they did turned up ZERO in New England and they told me that Nissan wasn't building them (the A/C) since (according to them) the assembly lines alternate between the coupe and sedan, and the coupe run was likely done for the 2012 MY. Not sure how true that is, but it makes sense to me.

They did find one (my car) in Maryland IIRC and had it shipped to them. I mention it because I had no deposit or any skin in the game- they brought it up on my curiosity! With a lazer-specific model (6sp, 3.5, white with blond interior) I was stunned they found one to start with, much less one to meet my specs. I couldn't believe they found an A/C 3.5 SR/6mt in white and blonde leather! Like I said, I could have not done a custom build and been more spot-on! Only thing I would add (perhaps) would be the interior LED accent lighting, but that would be REALLY splitting hairs....

I would be very curious if anyone has any info on the interior accent lighting (pros and cons) but we are getting into the weeds!

Love my car and could NOT be more pleased... unless they offered a factory turbo/blower option but there is plenty of time!

ha, accent lighting... Yeah, that doesn't come standard. Oznium is a good place to start for that, I did my own. :)

Never seen the OEM accents in person- no clue if it can be installed after the fact or what it would cost.

Gotta say, I would be interested though just because....

Closing on 2k miles already and still in lust! :stud:

Gotta admit, the mod bug has bitten! My wife though the tweaks ended with my bikes and truck... no friggin way!
