8 days and i did a tt engine and auto to manual swap. it kicked my ***. engine runs strong and smooth. stick is a little noisy. i'm hoping when i get a boot and sound deading that takes care of the problem....otherwise something in there isn't right.but better the transmission than the motor.....lol....after doing the swap. i don't recommend doing it so quickly it's draining. a was cursing the hell out of the car by day 4.....11 hours a day for 8 days...and that was vacation time away from work.....better than paying someone 5 grand plus to do it for me....we played gasoline from overhaulin when we were done. it was a laugh....

Congrats. If you don't have the dust boots around the shifter, it will make a lot of noise.

Can you explain what took so long? What some of your snags were, etc? I am going to be doing that next month and you are scaring me. I have done transmission work before but not a A/T to M/T swap. Please provide advice! Apparently I'm going to need all of the help I can get.

heres the story. it's a full tt swap. my car was originally a na auto. now a tt manual.and yes the transmission noise without the boot is horendouse....it took me 8 days with only 2 sets of hands. pulling the engine transmission out of the donar car. then my car. transfering the parts like clutch lines to my car. pedal installation. etc.then i was waiting on the drive shaft. by the 4th day i was exhausted and wasn't moving so quickly anymore. what made this hard was myself. pushing myself to get it done.

after doing the swap. it's not so bad. just give yourself time and don't rush it or you'll burn out like i did.... i'll post pictures later on.but i highly recommend you visit zfilms.org and watch michael smith swap video. nothing in the swap is brain surgery. just time consuming....the transmission swap is the real headache. beacause the harness on the transmission is linked to the alternator...it's a wiring headache. i still need to solve the none working speedo, odemeter oil pressure gauge and no reverse lights problem.

but the great thing about this ...in the end the whole swap cost me about 1 grand. i sold of the donar cars parts i didn't need and did the swap myself. the parts i sold off almost covered the cost of the donar car. but not all. then i needed some things. new clutch and plate. drive shaft. front bumper(still on back order) and a bent intercooler tube. radiator etc...

the swap is do-able. watch the videos....on zfilms.org

by the way this was my first ever swap...real rookie at this...

yah myself and one other guy....i do not recommend doing the transmission swap. simply because if you have futer electrical problems. it will be tougher to troubleshoot. otherwise it all bolts it.

NICE

i'm going to do my na 5sp -> tt 5sp with a tt auto front clip so I hope my problems aren't as numerous!

I think the only thing I need is a driveshaft and a TT fuel pump.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a Walbro 255 will work for the TT fuel pump right?

Stock TT pump will flow up to 700whp, wally 255's cap at about 500hp.

You can put two 255's with a custom mount, but you'd be best off to get a tt pump 'cause it fits nicely and works without too much f*king around.

Stock NA pump will start to starve around 350hp.

yes but you'll need 2 walbro's together to push beyond 500 hp
