If there are any of you who remember my initial submission to this forum, I had a passing problem with a "kid" in my neighborhood. He and I would race and the problem was he kept passing me. well my problem with him ended through hard work, perseverence, and of course a little help from you guys I'm considering the possibility of swaping my ka24e for a ka24de ,I have a doner car in mind but I just dont know where to start Here are the stats my car : 1989 240sx coupe originally an automatic car now a 5-speed (trans came from a 1990) donor car: 1994 240sx w/automatic.I'm wondering has anyone done a swap like this and what might be involved in the process, and can I keep my engine mods or not? I also have one more question does anyone know what my gear ratios are ? as I've been told that my car is going faster than my speedometer is showing me and I need to do the math to see if they are right. thanks again everyone and I appeciate the help.

You can get plenty of power out of the KA24E I don't see that it's really all that worth it you would be better just doing upgrades to your KA24E in that time.... OR if you really want to swap go with a SR20DET you can get a lot of HP out of it just by tuning and bolting on a bigger turbo

yeah the sr20det is a good choice but I'm partial to the ka24 because its easily found in any boneyard and parts stores carry more parts on the shelf for it. besides if I wanted a turbo I'd toss in my vg30et/b-w t5. my aspiration are natural (TEE HEE).

So you don't want to go turbo?

Talk to some of the NA KA guys (devious, Panda, etc) and they can teach you how to make NA power.

I just read about someone putting a SR20DET head on a SR20DE block and using ITB's to make around 200hp. That was probably pretty challenging not to mention expensive, so you would probably be better off sticking with a KA. Swapping a KA-E out for a KA-DE isn't hard at all, so I'd go for it.

Can't go wrong with that 502 though.

Come on people where is your enthusiasm for the VK56DE "endurance motor?"

i've no idea why nissan calls it that except its ridiculously badass. Titan power, with 300zx 6 speed... can't afford that? psssssh

i'm just mession around, maybe one day when i'm a big boy (read: RICH)i can hook that up, but uh til then...

I've always been a little jealous of KAE guys sometimes, there is SO much more N/A support, not to mention tried and true performance techniques on full race motors. Maybe be thankful for what you got, and hook it up with another one, and go from there

Or, be a total badass and borrow some stuff from your E to build a high compression DE, if dorced infuction isn't your route

yea for the money you would use to buy an SR swap, you could easily use it to turbo your KA and make it a monster.. faster than a stock SR, what you would get (stock) if you got the SR.

if you swap with a KA24DE I say build up the engine with aftermarket rods/pistons etc.. that way if you want to get turbo later you can put down Huge HP and not worry about your engine blowing up in a blaze of metal glory..

yup. My sr is in pieces and I am going to help a friend rebuild it for me, it's my first time.. .when the SR finally goes in... out comes the KA and it's going to get built... those are my plans.
