My last post here in 2002 was to inform all of my totalling of my 240. It was a sad day! :( However, my wife the :icesangel that she is bought me an 85 turbo for our anniversary! How about that! :D So anyway, glad to be back! This is going to be somewhat of a project car for me so I plan on learning a lot from everyone again.

The transmission is an auto and it won't shift into overdrive. I have been told it could be as simple as the switch being out. If it is going to require a total rebuild, I'd rather drop a 5 speed into it. Any ideas on cost? I imagine it is a feasible thing to do. The engine only has 140,000 miles on it. Not too bad. The t-tops leak a little, but none of the rubber is ripped. Besides vaseline, is there any other type of (re)conditioner for the rubbers? There is some surface rust around the wheel wells and a little where the rear license plate goes. I don't think I am inclined enough to tackle the wheel wells, but would like to try the other surface areas. Is there any experience out there with rust removal?

Ok enough for this post. I am REALLY glad to be back.

Thanks, Kurt

Nice ride! That is really sharp. I will see what I can do about some pictures. I want some before shots of it anyway so I can compare the before and after.

Am I the only one that thinks z31's are better looking then z32's? Ill admit that z32's have more flashy appeal but the older look just does it for me, Ive been saving to get my self out of the toyota I accidently bought. Id love someone to buy me an 85 turbo :) lucky jerk...jk

Yeah, lucky. I'll take it! Don't know about the looks tho. I had a 90 N/A at one point in life (way before marriage and kids) and i think they are built better. Now, once I get this one restored, I may say otherwise, but it just seems to me the z32's take the road better.

I definetely need to get a 5-speed in this one! The auto is killing me!

she got you a Z31T!? she got a sister !? Hope the rust isn't too bad, it can be a real issue in the Z31's, check the crossmember mounts where their bushing meet the floor and find out of your dealing with a solid car

I'v heard that the auto's can be a bit weak ? no real experience with the auto's but just in case, that 5 speed might be a good option

I miss my Z31
