Hi Guys,

I'm back; you probably don't remember me, but I leased a 2006 G35c back in 2006 and have since turned it in. new-to-the-group-t183801.html

I still have my 05 TL today, but I am looking to get rid of it for good as it has because very annoying and unreliable due to frequent problems. I have been searching for an 09+ Coupe 6MT Navi with little luck so I am considering a 2012 lease at this point:

I went by the Infiniti dealer today after I decided I may be open to leasing even though I haven't made a final decision yet on whether to continue to look for a preowned 09+ or go ahead and lease a 2012.

Infiniti.com has an offer for the 6MT Sport Coupe $371/month ($393.26 with taxes in my county) 39 months @ 10K miles a year. I have 59,300 miles on my 05 TL which averages out to 8,000 miles/ year. But, I still told the dealer up front that 10,000 was probably too few so they offered me the following on the same car with 15,000 miles / year

List price: $45,295.00
Cap Cost: $42,569.00
Acq Fee: $700.00
Doc Fee: $599.00
Cap Reduction Tax: $144.00
Cap reduction: $2400.00
First Payment: $480.58

Net Cap Cost: $41,677.00
Net Residual: $24,459.30

Money Factor: 0.000180
Monthly Rent: $11.90
Monthly Depreciation: $441.48
Monthly Sales Tax: $27.20
Monthly Payment: $480.48

According to Edmunds, the invoice on this car is $42,102 so based on that it appears they are charging only $500 over invoice (the other fees are still extra)

So I then compared the numbers $393 @ 10K/year, vs. $480 @ 15K/year and it looks like they are trying to charge me $0.20 a mile which seems high considering that Infiniti charges $0.15 mile if you go over. I did the same numbers with $0.15/mile and I come up with $455/month (including taxes)

$480/month is high, but do you guys think $455/month is a good deal or could I do even better?

As far as my Acura goes, this deal is without trading my TL in to them. I was thinking I would just sell my TL to Carmax (was offered $13,000 for it) use some of the money to pay the Cap reduction on the lease and pocket the remaining cash.

if you can get 13,000 for your TL, why not use all or some of the 13000 to go towards a new or used G and finance instead of leasing? your payment would be about the same or less if you getting a used 2008 G35. then you dont have to worry about the milage headache. might even find a 2009 G37 in the high 20s and knock off 13000 with your trade, then still not have to worry about the milage.

Id personaly keep looking for the 2009 G37 and dont settle for the lease when you have that much of a down payment avaliable.

I would stay away from leasing...never a good financial decision. Also, the "real" invoice is in the high 30's for that car. I would sell your car outright and buy a 2011G with under 10k miles. Another option is to wait until after January when they are trying to sell the previous year' car. Infiniti has a winter sale that is pretty good.

I would never lease a vehicle. I have known too many people that were trapped in nightmares. I don't ever want to say that I can't drive my car because I don't want to put miles on it.

Thanks Guys! :bigthumb:

Just now seeing your responses, and believe it or not, I slept on this over night and came up with the same conclusion. I really loved the 2012 G37s, but I had to be honest with myself and realize it was a little out of my budget right now; especially for a lease. I woke up this morning and realized that my money would do so much better going towards I car that would eventually own versus throwing it all away on a lease. (over $18000 in this case) I am glad to see you guys agree!

Back in '06 I did do a short term lease of a G35c but that was when I made about twice as much as I do now and it was only a 12 month lease and I was comfortable with that since it wasn't a long term commitment and I could comfortably afford that and my car Acura car payments at the same time (Acura is paid off now). Also because I was working for myself at the time, I was able to deduct it as a business expense, but I am not working for myself any more.

So the search continues...I see a 2009 G37 Sedan 6MT/Navi at a dealership about 30 miles away for $27,991 I figure with the $13,000 down from my TL I could get my payments right under $300 which seems to fit well within in my budget. I had budgeted about $420 for another car, but I never like going to the max because you just never know what can happen. Other than my home, I only like to finance stuff I can pay off right away if needed and while I would still finance a preowned car if the situation arises that I need to get it paid off, I would be able to. This wouldn't be possible with a lease so its preowned for me if I stay with the G

In a perfect world, I really would like to keep Acura for the foreseeable future, but it is just getting too unreliable for my liking. I had to drop $240 on it yesterday to fix an accelerator sensor problem, and the previous month I spent close to $200 fixing some other stuff on my own that was broken (dealership wanted to charge over $700 to do the same work). Last year I dodged a bullet because it required a $1300 power steering rack replacement, but luckily the dealer did a goodwill repair for me. I feel it is only a matter of time before something major goes wrong and I'll be stuck with a huge repair bill. I think its best to get out of it now while I can get decent money for it. I am considering waiting until the new bodystyles of the G's come out so I can get a steal on a previous style, I just hope my Acura lasts that long....

Thanks again! While I'm here do any of you 09+ G37 owners have any complaints about its reliability?

Good decision. :dblthumb:

I can't believe an '05 Acura would have that many issues! I had an '08 coupe. I only had it for like 31k miles so I really can't give you too much input. Small warantee items, nothing too serious. I loved the car though. It was super nice.

You mean 2008+ coupe or 2009+ sedan owners

I've had no reliability issues. If it has the factory battery just expect it to go bad.

Well another Infiniti dealer gave me an offer I couldn't refuse so I picked up this over the Memorial Day Weekend. Got a pretty good deal I think; $36,400 and with TTL it came out to be just under $37,900. They gave me $12,300 for my TL which figures to a little over $13,000 when considering the tax savings by trading it in instead of selling it myself. I usually don't even consider show room models due to tons of traffic of people getting in and out of the cars, but I looked over this car for over an hour and couldn't find one single scratch or blemish on the exterior or interior. Salesman said the car was just placed on the showroom a couple of days prior to me getting there.

So here it is; 2012 Infiniti G37S Journey Sedan With Premium, Sport and Navi Package. Liquid Platinum on Graphite. I decided a Sedan would be the better choice (plus $2,000 cheaper) and while I wanted a 6MT, I settled for the 7AT after I considered factors such as gas mileage and the paddle shifters in the Auto.

Thanks to all of y'all for all for the great advice. I am so glad I didn't lease now; With my trade, I didn't have pay any additional money out of my pocket, and my payments are less than what the lease would have been with $2,400 down. I bought this car from another Infiniti dealer and not the one that offered the lease on the G37S coupe. That dealer really wanted to low ball me on my trade which is why I shopped around some more. Well anyway here are a few pics of the new ride. I've taken tons of pics, but here are a few of the exterior.
