Hi everyone,

Some of you might remember the fantastic disaster I had last December:

Anyway, the machine shop was dragging their feet on the warranty work for months and actually wanted to reuse three of these pistons, which just screams "half a**!"

Two weeks before I went to Afghanistan I dropped it off to a real machinist, and now I'm back and picked up my engine.

Since I haven't messed with this thing in almost a year, I'm going to have a lot of stupid questions since I've forgotten a lot. I hope that's OK. Anyway, here is my first one.

The machinist didn't put the flywheel, clutch, and clutch cover on. Looking at the FM, it seems that all I need to do is bolt the flywheel down, put the clutch on the shaft that comes out the the back of the engine, align the clutch cover onto the tabs on the flywheel, and bolt the cover down.

Am I missing anything here?

Thanks,

Darian

-install flywheel onto crankshaft
-install clutch alignment tool
-place clutch disc on flywheel
-bolt clutch pressure plate to flywheel
-remove clutch alignment tool

That's pretty much what I thought.

Never messed with the clutch before. Why do you need a tool to align it?

Much appreciated.

Thanks,

Darian

it keeps the clutch components in line so that it can be bolted to the flywheel.

Got it, thanks. I just did a quick search, and it's only about $3 for one, so I guess I can't go wrong...

Thanks,

Darian
