OK.. so here goes the rather short version of it.My wife knew she was in labor on 7-7, but didn't tell me until the morning of 7-8 (probably so I didn't freak out). We went to the midwife, who took her BP, and found it rather elevated. Also, the midwife herself recently had surgery, and was in no condition to help deliver.

So we got sent to a hospital over an hour away which has a very low c-section rate, as we were trying to do a 100% natural birth.

After sitting in the hospital for 6 hours a 8cm dialation, 1+ hour of which was after gettin pitocin, it was determined he couldn't come out without help. So we went in for a c-section anyway.

Come to find out, he had once again gone c***-eyed, and couldn't come out as a result. So my healthy baby son, Colton Henry, was born at 9:11 pm on 7-8-07.

We've spent the past couple days in the hospital letting my wife recover, and we just got home at about 4pm pacific time tonight.

Pics will come later. We just got home and had dinner, so we have much to do!

I'm glad to hear that everyone is doing well. Having your little boy to help you mod your car will be amazing. You won't believe what those little fingers can get into.

Congratulations!!!

Sorry the natural birth didn't work out for you!

(hmm... I guess a car forum isn't really a place to ask about your breast feeding intentions...)

Congrats, EV! And FWIW, we had the same experience with our first, and despite what so many people said about "Once a c-sec, always a c-sec," my wife had no problems delivering our second completely naturally. I hope you enjoy yours as much as we have ours!

Thanks everyone!

He was 7 pounds, 10 ounches, and 20.4" long.

And Kimber - the answer to that is au naturel as well.

We'll be getting some pics up in a couple days. It was people taking a few pictures each on a bunch of cameras, so we're trying to collect them all and put them up.

That about sums it up, at least until she got the epidural before surgery.

Congrats on the Baby. I like the name Colton....pretty cool. Just make sure to take lots of pics and shoot lots of video. Because before you know it, he'll be a 14 year old asking for money. Those "Life comes at you fast" commercials aren't kidding.

Congratulations.

When my wife and I start to have some kids she wants to do the natural child birth. I am for it, but I am also not the one having the kid! Her sister had her last two children at home. That freaks me out. Were you guys planning on having a home birth as well as natural?

We had planned to go to a birthing center and use a midwife. But our midwife had just had a hysterectomy, so she couldn't do deliveries... and she wasn't comfortable with my wife's blood pressure.

It's a good thing we ended up getting sent to the hospital, he never would have come out if we had ended up continuing with a natural birth, because he had turned slightly and just simply couldn't move down anymore.

We had a rough night last night... he was very fussy, mostly from gas he couldn't get rid of. He's sound asleep right now though.

SPend as much time with your child as you can. Buy the largest memory card for your camera too. I have a 2 year old son and I wonder a lot where the time went. I wish I video taped more of him growing up however I wouldn't have enjoyed what happened as much since I would always be trying to video tape it. I have lots of pictures though.
