This really pisses me off and I've only had it for a week. Anyone know what happened to it? Or is it just a piece of crap?

What kinda filter is that?

And yeah, if is just broke off like that, it's probably just cheap plastic, ie piece of crap.

Its a K&N.

It has the cuts on the plastic part of the filter b/c it fell on top of my turbo and kinda wedged itself with the heat shield on my exhaust manifold.

I was messing around with a new wrx but I wasn't really running the car hard or anything. I seriously think it shouldn't have happened anyway.

Might have just melted from the heat stress of the turbo.

Anyone else have one? They should last more than a week.

maybe you overtightened the ring? It sounds odd for a K&N product to break so easily. My only other guess is that that particular unit was weak. Get another and see if it lasts longer.

btw, I like the neat wavey table.

Most likely the heat destroyed it. Those breather filters should last for a long time, my brother has one on his mr2 turbo that's been on there for like the past 2-3 yrs and it still looks new.

heh thanks

well enjuku told me theirs does the same thing so i just got a threaded pipe nipple, shoved it in the remaining filter and connected the other side of the nipple with heater hose and hose clamps

With your setup how it is instead of having a catchcan, do you never have a problem with oil soaking the filter after a while?
